It is not as pretty as some of the more expensive kitchen composters, but I can leave it filled on the counter for several days without any smell coming from it. Also, I do not use any liners or other "extras". My only complaint would be that when it arrived to my house the lid did not close completely enough to create a seal. I had to put a heavy object (my cutting board) on top to get it back in place. After a day it was perfect! If you are looking for something basic then this would be it! It holds about three days worth of scraps, used paper napkins, coffee grounds, etc. from a family of three. When it is snapped closed it is virtually odorless, and I have a very sensitive nose. You can get biodegradable bags that fit it from the same company, but you don't need them at all, just take the bucket by the handle, dump in compost, rinse with hose, you're done! Very glad I got this instead of all the pricey ones out there. Pros

The only reason I gave it four stars is that the snap-latch lid can be a little finicky. Nothing wrong in terms of functionality, just takes a little time to get used to it. Pros

Comments about EcoSafe Kitchen Catcher Composter, 1 ea: This compost bucket really does contain the odor. Use it with the EcoSafe compostable bags to make clean-up super cinchy. I store mine under the sink and have never smelled any decomposing food in my kitchen, unlike my former compost bucket which was an old plastic coffee can. The lid shuts nicely, opens easily, and the handle lifts and drops smoothly without catching or inadvertantly tipping the bucket. This is a dream product at a sweet price.

Tight lid closure keep insects out and smells in. Easy to clean, rinse out or use your recycled shopping bags for compost waste. Doesn't have the silly carbon filter on top that can allow for insects creeping in.Best Compost Container for the money!
