I have been buying this tea for 30 years at a local health food store that used to specialize in Macrobiotic foods. It was uite expensive. Drugstore.com has a much more affordable price...I used to give this tea in a bottle tomy sons, occasionally adding some apple juice for variety. It is useful for digestive problems when prepared with uniboshi plums and shoyu. My husband likes it strong, I prefer it with a lighter brew. It tends to have a slightly bitter tast when brewed too strong.
Brewing directions for the perfect cup. Hot: We recommend using a ceramic, glass, earthenware or stainless steel kettle or teapot. Heat water to a rolling boil. Fill a cup and steep the tea bag for 4 plus minutes and remove. Normally Twig Tea is boiled. The ground tea in this tea bag makes a great steeped cup of tea. Iced: For a glass of ice tea, brew as above using less water. After steeping, cool and then pour into an ice filled glass. To make a pitcher of ice tea, we recommend using 4 tea bags to 1 quart of water for 6 servings. We find that half Kukicha tea and half fruit juice is an excellent beverage for children.
