My mothers appetite has improved a bit and her mood swings have leveled out. We have been adding a folic acid supplement to her diet as well and the combination seems to help a lot.

When I was going through a few months of medication trials for my condition(fibromyalgia) there were so many meds that made me sick to my stomach or made me so depressed I didn't want to eat. The smell of food had no appeal to me. This product was suggested to me by my Mother who has been a nurse for over 22 years. She stated that Elder Tonic is given to her recovering residents who have lost their appetite and they take it once before every meal.
I have to say that I would have given Elder Tonic five stars but had to take off one due to the taste. It's not yummy but it's not horrible enough to make you spit it out. It's too sweet.
But it WORKS!!! Give it about forty-five minutes and you'll be ready to kill anyone who stands between you and the food. My advice is to make sure you have plenty of prepared food handy when you do take it because otherwise you'll scrounge in the fridge and cupboards and that's unhealthy.
Adults, one tablespoon (15mL) three times daily just before meals. May be chilled prior to use. Do not exceed recommended dosage unless directed by a physician
