I am so impressed with this product. After reading several reviews about different epilators that were breaking hair, leaving stubble etc. I decided to give one a try anyway. I decided on the Emjoi emagin because of the 72 tweezers. It was the newest by Emjoi and it seemed to make sense that it would cover a larger territory.

I decided to take on my lower leg hair. The hair on my legs was not too long. I would say 1/4 inch the most. The product swiftly, and at first a bit painfully, pulled the hair out. I actually got use to the feeling and before you know it, I was zipping around with no problem.

Now, I will tell you that I am not very hairy so, not everyone will have an as painless experience as mine. Plus, waxing is so much more painful because it's a large area all at once! This concept will at least have you going at your own pace with the removal. I decided a week after using the product, to use it again and it was much easier because new hair came in. So, I figure if I use it weekly, the hairs will come in at different times, and the pain will be tolerable (if there is any).

This purchase was well worth it and I'm so happy I found this particular product. I am now ordering the total concept and the epi slim today for areas that may be a bit more sensitive. The 72 tweezers is a bit large for my upper lip. I hope I have the same expereince! I'm hooked!

I have owned several Emjoi epilators in the past. In my experience they have all worked great, especially the Optimum, but after a year or two, the little plastic gear wheels wear out and the unit stops working. Well, I did some math and $80-100 every couple of years is still alot cheaper than waxing appointments!Anyway, I was excited to try this new model. The design is indeed much easier and more comfortable to hold and using it is almost painless - BECAUSE IT'S NOT ACTUALLY PLUCKING. The wheels spin so fast that it breaks leg hair, even on the slow setting. This results in quick hair growth (under a week) and the hair has a stub end - not the tapered end of hair that has been removed at the root.THANK YOU to Drugstore.com for accepting my return of this poorly designed product, even after I used it for a month.!!!

Comments about Emjoi Emagine Epilator, AP18, 1 ea:

I'm tired of shaving and waxing. I wasted $1000 on laser hair removal, which is wholly ineffective on light body hair. My last experience with epilation was the Epilady when it came out in the late 80s -- it was a torture device! So after copious research, I purchased the Emjoi Emagine. Wow. I'm so pleased. I literally plugged in and started work on my legs. It's 72 tweezers operating at once so I'd be lying if I misrepresented the ouch factor -- some spots are simply more tender. Pull your skin taut and allow yourself an occasional expletive, and you'll be fine. Extracts hair that is course or fine. It's corded, but you'll get more power that is also consistent for that minimal bother. Happy epilating!

I love the 72 teeth and wide head. Took waaaay less time than others. I have used 2 other types of epilators with fewer teeth and small heads and they took forever.

I purchased this mostly for facial hair, upper lip. This Epilator is very good, but not the best design for the upper lip. I still use it for that, but with the double row removal things, it is a little tricky. Does a good job, but does miss SOME hairs. Even when I go over & over the area. All in all... very good product & although I would recommend it to someone, I would tell them that a single row of removers would be best for the upper lip.

Private area hair removal, works painless on some areas.
The connecting gear between motor and tweeter head is the weak link. Stripped gear after about a year, tried to get the gear replaced but the company was not helpful. This unit works well, so I bought a new one.

Comments about Emjoi Emagine Epilator, AP18, 1 ea:

I am using various electrical epilators since 1990. I tried over years several models from Brown and Phillips. Last summer when travelling overseas I accidentally burnt my old one and bought a new model. I was so utterly annoyed with it that a week ago I decided it was time to change it that's how I decided to try Emjoi. At first I ran just a quick pass in a not so well illuminated room thinking that today I'll do the main job in good sun light. I had two good surprises: 1. the pain is considerably less than that produced by all the other models I've tested. The bikini area which (together with all women on earth I guess) I deeply hate worked like a breeze. And 2. the sound has a lower pitch such as even my cat didn't get scared of it. I cleaned then the area with minted alcohol (my old trick to calm down a freshly epilated area) then used some moisturizing cream later and went to bed. In the morning came a third surprise: there was almost nothing left to epilate. This is the real thing for me. I just hope its resilience is as good as its overall quality.
Watching how it works it has two major technical advantages over the other models: the tweezers display that allow you to use it perpendicularly on the skin in a sweep motion rather than inclined at an angle (an angle is a relative notion and we'll never know what a manufacturer meant when thinking of it, was it 20 degrees was it 45 degrees? an angle is like you are told in a recipe to add "a fist of flour") secondly the speed, you barely feel anything when extracting the roots, most of what you feel is the slight irritation after the fact.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs this kind of tool.
If you never used any electrical epilator you will probably feel some pain (and I am not recommending starting with the most sensitive areas like bikini or armpits, chances are you'll never do it again soon) but if you are used to them you may find it a huge upgrade.

If you buy, use when you first get out of the shower. Be prepared to spend much time going over and over the area you want hair removed.

Comments about Emjoi Emagine Epilator, AP18, 1 ea:

I bought this high quality unit years ago, hoping it would eliminate the need to shave my legs. It didn't. I have fine hairs so at best it pinched off the hairs and left me with stubbly legs. I use it on my underarms instead, where the hair is thicker, but when the new, softer, finer hairs grow in, the epilator has trouble grabbing onto and pulling those out. I'll keep going over the skin until it's irritated before giving up. I'll have to wait for another day's growth before trying again. The dual speed option makes no difference for me. I don't see the point of it.

Disappointed that it broke most hairs off rather than removing them from the roots. beautiful design and color. Much easier to reach all areas with this new design....but it does not do the job.
I think Emjoi is a God-send because it has transformed my life. I have tried just about every hair removal product on the market. Emjoi has truly been the best. I am no longer a slave to my father's genes which gave me dark hairy legs. I feel like a truly beautiful, free woman for the first time in my life !

At first it stings quite a bit. Feels like pins and needles. Or electricity. But I followed others advice and took a hot shower first to open my pours. After a few minutes the stinging really didn't bother me. I used on my legs, underarms, bikini area & even on my face. Everything was super smooth afterward and lasted a long time. Plus I didn't have that itch you get with new growth a few days later.
