I take care of it properly, but it is just not something that will flawlessly work year after year. However, buying blades and shaving cream every few weeks adds up, so I figure this is no more expensive than shaving in the long run. Also, while I do prefer this to shaving, it does not leave skin as smooth as shaving does. Even if you go slowly and carefully, it breaks some of the hairs off at the skin. Also, be aware that the first few times are very, very painful, but it grows less painful with each use until finally you barely feel it at all. It does last a bit longer than shaving however, and over time, the hair grows in sparser and more fine. My mother has been using epilators for 10 years, and the hair on her arms is so fine and sparse that she only needs to use this every three weeks. If you can suffer through the first few times, you will be happy with this product. It's not perfect, but it sure beats shaving daily. I did two waxings before trying this product. The pain was much less with the epilator, plus, by doing the waxings first, I was only epilating the new growth, since hair grows in cycles. In time it is virtually painless, and the results are great! The regrowth is much finer and softer than shaved, and even if I don't do it for a while, no one can tell, since the hair is so fine and soft. I highly recommend this product. Not only did it leave icky red bumps on my skin (which still haven't completely gone away), but it barely removes any hair at all without having to go over it again a thousand times!! While it hurts, if you go slowly, the skin area around seems to "get used" to it, allowing you to go a bit farther. While I did not do a full Brazilian, I certainly got pretty far south. Previously I home waxed the bikini area and used a Sieko Clean Cut for far South. The home waxing hurt MUCH more -- like a 7 on the above scale and I often ended up removing some skin and getting bruising. This is way better. Good luck. I usually have dots all over and some times have to shave 2 times in 1 day (I live at the beach). This is wonderful. It hurt the first time, but now it is no big deal. The first time I used it I didn't have to redo for a week. Now when I'm sitting around I just take it out, use it, and it's done until I feel like doing it again. It works so well I invite the small amount of pain, as I know it has grabbed more of those pesky black hairs on my chin, upper lip. The unwanted hair takes plenty of time to reappear. I highly recommend this well-crafted machine. It quickly dispenses with the ugly black spots as it really does take the very short ones out too and leaves me feeling feminine again. No waiting for the hairs to grow long enough (which means you have to wear the hair for days). For the first time in many years I can have silky soft, fine facial skin again, anytime I want, as soon as I want. Definitely worth the money. I have dark, thick, difficult to remove hair, and this works great. I have found that using a loofah (flat, not the round kind) really helps the hair removal and prevents in-grown hairs. I like the small design too because it's lighter. This uses the same process as waxing, it removes hair from the root so that you don't have to shave as often, but for some reason, the Emjoi hurts 10 times as much as waxing. I gave it three stars because it does exactly as it says; it removes hair from the root fast and effectively, but had to take a few stars away because of the extreme pain involved. I used to use wax products, which pulled the hair out at the root and I would have soft silky legs afterwards. I would repeat the process every 4-6 weeks. This product hurts just as much as the waxing did, and breaks most of the hair off at the skin level. Two days later, I can feel the stubble like I shaved my legs and I have to repeat the process every 6-7 days. Save your money- epilators are not worth it!!!!! I really hated that you could still see little black dots all over my legs after I shaved, and this thing eliminated that problem because it gets rid of the hair just under the skin too. I really like that it picks up hairs that are pretty short. My only complaint is that it does miss a lot of hairs the first time around, so you really do have to go over the same spot quite a few times. Overall, I would recommend it!
