This is odd stuff. I would expect its consistency and residue layer with straight up acne type of gels, not something labeled moisturizer. It is a clear gel. If you put makeup over it, the gel keeps the makeup from being spread (the acidity?) and I rolled off the foundation in little balls as it coagulated on my cheek trying to rub it in. Worn alone, it appears a little shiny and definitely a little tacky on the face since it doesn't get absorbed. I'm not sure if the acids are any stronger than salycylic acid in common gels.
