If you have a preemie baby this is the best solution for your newborn.
This formula does not only have 2 calories more it provides your baby with much higher doses of vitamins and minerals that it needs so much. Compare the nutritions with regular formulars and you will see the differences. But watch the amount per serving - this one has 4.5 ounces, others have 5 ounces.
Our newborn farts a lot too but under no circumstances I would risk the development of my baby's brain and body to reduce his farts.
It's expensive but your baby should be worth it. There are other ways to save this 20-30 Dollars a month.
Don't change this formula for at least 6 months or when your pediatrican recommends it.
My baby is gaining weight very well and he is used to it now.Smell is bad though and sometimes it causes gas and indigation...not sure it is because of enfamil or not as he didn't have any other product. But we are happy with it.
My preemie daughter switched to this from the "regular" Enfamil, and has gained weight steadily ever since. We also switched to a fast flow nipple, which helped as well.
My baby was premature. I solely breastfed while he was in the hospital, but after he was discharged, my breast milk supply needed to be supplemented. I tried all sorts and still looking for a better formula. He gained a great deal of weight, but I don't attribute that much to the formula, since he was only getting 3-4 oz a day. But now, he spits it up a lot...I am looking for something better. This formula is alright, but it's got corn syrup as its main constituent. I don't think that's necessarily good. Also, you're better off buying it from a local drugstore; it's at least a few dollars cheaper.
Your baby's health depends on carefully following the instructions below. Proper hygiene, preparation, dilution, use and storage are important when preparing infant formula. Powdered infant formulas are not sterile and should not be fed to premature infants or infants who might have immune problems unless directed and supervised by your baby's doctor. Ask your baby's doctor which formula is appropriate for your baby.
Ask you baby's doctor about the need to use cooled, boiled water for mixing and the need to boil clean utensils, bottles and nipples in water before use.
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before preparing formula
Pour desired amount of water into the bottle. Add powder.
Cap bottle and shake well.
Use the chart below for correct amounts of water and powder. Use scoop in can to measure powder. Store Dry scoop in this can.
To make 2 fl oz Bottle - 2 fl oz Water & 1 (9.8g) unpacked level scoop*
To make 4 fl oz Bottle - 4 fl oz Water & 2 (19.6g) unpacked level scoops*
To make 8 fl oz Bottle - 8 fl oz Water & 4 (39.2g) unpacked level scoops*
*each scoop adds about 0.2 fl oz to the amount of prepared formula.

Failure to follow these instructions could result in severe harm. Once prepared, infant formula can spoil quickly. Either feed immediately or cover and store in refrigerator at 35-40° F (2-4° C) for no longer than 24 hours. Do not use prepared formula if it is unrefrigerated for more than a total of 2 hours. Do not freeze prepared formula. After feeding begins do not refrigerate feeding bottle. You must use within 1 hour or discard.
Powder Storage: Store cans at room temperature. After opening can, keep tightly covered, store in dry area and use contents within 1 month. Do not freeze powder and avoid excessive heat.
