My mom needed extra calories and we tried several flavors of Ensure. Mom didn't like any of them. She said they all tasted odd. Mom was a HUGE fan of dark chocolate and even this flavor tasted "strange" to her. Medical folks suggested Instant Breakfasts made with ice cream as an alternative. Mom liked those better.
Now, Grandpa needs extra calories. Ensure is working for him in all flavors. Like my mom, Grandpa says it tastes odd. However, Grandpa has found that if he chills the Ensure thoroughly, it tastes just fine.
Grandpa stores the bottles in the refrigerator. Prior to drinking, Grandpa moves a bottle into the freezer for about 20 minutes. At this very cold temperature, Grandpa says it tastes good.
Mom always drank her Ensure straight from the refrigerator. Maybe that is why she didn't like them. Maybe Mom just tasted something in the Ensure that Grandpa can't taste. Mom is gone now so we can't get that data.
Some folks may not like Ensure at all. Others may think Ensure is yummy. Still others may find that Ensure only tastes good when thoroughly chilled.The bottom line here is that Grandpa has stopped loosing weight since drinking Ensure. The Instant Breakfast milkshakes also helped my mom to maintain a more healthful weight.
