I get the worse dry skin in the winter, and I'm always searching for a good lotion. so, I decided to give this a try, and very happy that I did. It's almost as thick as any cream, is in a pump, and doesn't make my legs feel all greasy afterward. My legs haven't been itchy at all since I've been using it. I actually don't mind using lotion now! The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is cause I can't say 100% how well it will work in the dead of winter, but as of now, I thnk it's going to be great.

I purposely waited several weeks before writing a review, I wanted to give this time to see how it would work.
I live in the Rocky Mountains at above 10,000 feet. Winters can get VERY dry. At first I was just itchy all over, all the time. I just dealt with it. Once my skin started to look bad, that's when I had to do something about it. Both my thighs had chapped and scabbed, as well as patchy rashes near my armpits and on my stomach where the skin folds.
Eucerin works. I noticed results after one use, and after about a week even my thighs were smoothed and restored. I use it about 5 days a week, and if I don't use it two days in a row I have minor itching, but a little dab where I itch and it's fine. I apply it to my entire body except face after I shower. Sometimes I put a tiny bit on trouble spots before bed just to be safe.
This makes my skin soft and is helping with the bumps on the back of my legs. I like that it does not have a scent. I don't like it when a lotion clashes with my perfume.
I use the product every day after I bathe. I have used LOTS of lotions in my day since I have eczema and dry skin. This one is by far the best. It goes on very smooth, doesn't have any harsh smells, and lasts all day. It's the best lotion I've ever used.
Eucerin Smoothing Essentials worked beautifully for me until I couldn't find it. I called Eucerin and was told that it's been renamed Smoothing Repair and that is the same thing. It is not. This new version does not moisturize as well and smells bad. It's better than a lot of lotions but Eucerin should have heeded the old saying that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
I have very dry skin and sometimes it's so dry it becomes flaky. This lotion really help. If you put it on before bed the next day your skin would be nice and smooth. I think it's becoz it contains AHA which helps to get rid of dead skin. I personally think it's too greasy to use it during the day though.
I've used Eucerine in the past and feel So-So about the brand BUT this Smoothing formula actually makes my skin noticeably smooth, not just moisturized, until my next shower. It goes on rather think and does't absorbe super quickly so I take my bath towel for a light dab after applying and I rub it off my hands with a damp wash cloth. But once it's absorbed there's a dramatic difference. My skin has a silkish feel, almost like there's a silk coating over it. Hard to describe but definitely a rougher skin surface feeling when I don't use this.
This lotion is better for the winter, when my skin was really dry. In the spring and summer, it feels sticky. Also it takes a while to sink in and it's STANKY! As a lactic acid smoothing lotion, it's mediocre. The lactic acid is listed in the bottom half of the ingredients, so I wouldn't imagine there's very much in there. Angel-dusting anyone? Kiss My Face peaches & cream works much better for exfoliation.
