With an instant (in my case) positive result I was able to tell that there was blood, and contacted my Doctor. My blood test showed that my blood thinner levels were twice what they should have been, and I was, indeed bleeding from my ulcer, and I needed to be taken off of the blood thinner immediately. It would've been helpful to have a picture of what the negative test result would look like. When you're done with the test, you're supposed to send the results to your doctor. The result card's a small postcard and I can picture this easily getting lost in the paper shuffle at my doctor's office.
