My INTERACTIVE-play loving cat *loves* this toy! I'm a fan, too, because: A) It's fun to cast the rod (it even sounds like a "real" fishing rod); and B) I'm actually able to STAY PUT for once and watch the cat run herself ragged!

There's one (pretty major) drawback, though: If you don't treat it gently, it breaks fairly easily. I bought my first Catfisher a few years ago, and although we loved the toy, I swore it off after going through a couple of replacement rods. Then about a year later, I noticed it was on sale, so I caved and bought two rods. (I know...)

THIS time, though, I've been careful not to let the string spool out endlessly when casting, OR jerk the rod too hard if/when the "mouse" gets caught on something. And so far, so good... The second rod is still sealed away in its package after a full month of daily fishing!

We've had this a couple of weeks and our cat loves it. It's easy to use and helps the little guy burn some energy indoors. The line did tangle and I did have to take the housing apart to untangle it. It wasn't too difficult, just took a little time and patience. If you aren't handy and wouldn't be up to fixing it, don't buy. Otherwise this is great!

I honestly do not understand all of the other reviewers who keep breaking this item. I've had no problems whatsoever. Cat and owner both love "The Catfisher." A+ for fun!

My two kittens absolutely love this toy! As soon as I even approach the fishing rod, they go nuts. However, I'm about to purchase my third one because both of the previous toys had issues; the wire gets tangled easily and I even tried taking apart the entire thing to fix it without success. I would normally never purchase another one, but my kitties love this so much I am just going to purchase several of these as backup!

I tried to get the line untangled but it was tangled up too much and the button wasnt easy to press... the worst was that I felt so bad for the cat...He was really ready to play and kept trying but for the life of me I could not get the line to come out and could not cast the toy...So we just played with it while it was only maybe 2ft out and then he gave up. I hate to say this but the line is too thin and I think if he was able to play with this toy more he would end up biting right through the line. I guess its good that it didnt work because I see issues with cats eating plastic line like that.
However, the whole family is really disappointed that it was a broken mess and I really think I'm going to see about returning it.
There are no instructions on how to fix a tangle or anything like a customer service number so I guess they know it sucks, too?

This fishing rod apparatus broke very quickly and I feel I was
ripped off. My cat is quite gentle with toys so I was surprised
how quickly the whole item fell apart. This was a waste of
money and iit was poorly designed.

I have a large senior Maine Coon that I adopted from shelter over a year ago. I had to teach him how to play. He still wants me involved in playing and this toy was great for both of us. I cast it down a long hallway and he goes flying.

I was really excited when I received the Cat Fisher - my cat LOVED it - but after a week of play, the nylon wire got tangled in the reel and cannot be fixed due to it being in one piece that can't be taken apart.
