This is the only hair spray that actually holds my very fine hair. Anything else just weighs my hair down. I buy both regular and unscented; did not notice much smell in the regular compared to any other brand.

I wash my hair everyday and have found that the only spray that will hold my thick, shoulder-length straight hair is Finesse Maximum Hold spray in a can (not the plastic bottle pump version). It's not necessary to use gobs of spray--just a spritz here and there will hold all day without a heavy, sticky feel or look. It's almost an invisible hold in most kinds of weather such as wind and damp skies.
The only caveat is making sure to clean the spray nozzle on occasion. For some reason, it will clog without notice, more so than other hair sprays. But just be diligent and it shouldn't surmount to too big a hassle to keep clean.

Ew. I've bought other Finesse products, with mixed results, over the years. This one is the worst ever. It has a horrible, strong odor that smells like...urine. Sorry, but it's true. And it lingers! Beyond that (which I threw out the bottle for alone), it has almost NO staying power, and I put plenty on. Within an hour my hair was out of place. Never again.
