So, this month was our first month trying, and I took this test at 8 days post ovulation (so 6 days before my expected period) and it was negative. No big shocker, the test isn't supposed to be sensitive then (I actually had initially misjudged my ovulation and didn't really intend to take a test that early, but oh well.) Anyway, more time passed and I could CLEARLY tell when I had ovulated given more temp info. I waited until 16 days post ovulation and still no period. So I retook the test and got a positive before I could even wash my hands after going to the bathroom! It was very easy to read and immediate. Also, just FYI, I took it during the day but waited 7 hours without going to the bathroom. I also caught it in a cup instead of holding it in the stream to make sure I followed the directions exactly. VS Most Liked Negative Review While a lot of women ... I used a two pack test once, got two very distinct positives, was so excited only to run out to the store and purchase two other brands to be sure. The other brands were negative, and I was indeed NOT pregnant. The next time I used this test was after I had an IUI. I tested and got a negative, yet my doctor had me come in for a beta hCG (blood test testing for the pregnancy hormone) anyway. My level was 47.8, clearly over the amount of hCG this test should have detected. I tested a day or so later when my number had more than doubled (confirmed by my doctor) and still got a negative with this test, while the other HPTs I had were VERY positive. I was pregnant with TWINS, who are now 3. In four words: I LOATHE THIS PRODUCT. Comments about First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test Kit, 3 ea: This new test has worked wonders for me! 8 days past ovulation, I got a positive, very faint positive but it was there! I used these tests over the next few days and the positive became more darker and clear. Turns out the test was accurate, as of 12 days past ovulation, I had blood work saying hcg is 40.1! definitely worth it! Comments about First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test Kit, 3 ea: Well, after numerous tries with First Response tests, I finally came up with a positive result. I was quite sure I was pregnant and all the other (cheaper) brands had failed me, so I finally sucked it up and bought a box of FR tests. I had used FR with my first pregnancy and gotten an easy-to-read positive... 9 days after my missed period. This time around, I took one 3 days after, and one 5 days after my missed period... both resulting in negative tests. Finally, on the next two days (6 days past and 7 days past my missed period) I FINALLY got the positive results I was expecting. According to the pamphlet in the box, you were supposed to have fairly accurate results 6 days BEFORE your missed period and nearly foolproof ones 4 days BEFORE. Here, I had to wait until 6 days AFTER to get the right result. Not very reliable, in my opinion. I guess if you're willing to wait for an accurate result, it's worth it... it's not like any of the other brands were giving me a positive result, either. Comments about First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test Kit, 3 ea: I used this test with my first urine 18 DPO so I may not qualify as requesting 'early results', but the test worked perfectly. I got my 2 lines almost immediately. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? The next day I went to the doctor and their urine test showed a negative, but my blood work showed postiive. This test is better than what they had at my doctor's office. Comments about First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test Kit, 3 ea: I was able to see a faint positive before my missed period. I really like the large, oval window. It makes it much easier to compare the control line to the test line. If you're testing a day or more before your missed period, be sure to use first morning urine and wait 10 minutes instead of the recommended three minutes. It gives the dye more time to pick up on the small amount of hormones. Overall, great product! I will definitely use these again. Comments about First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test Kit, 3 ea: Two days before my period was due, I took this test. I took both tests in the box, and both looked exactly the same- two pink lines, although one line was very faint. This lead to some confusion as to whether a line was really there or not. One day later, I took Clearblue Easy digital, and the result was clear as day- "Pregnant!" So although the First Response test did detect hCG two days before my period was due, the faint lines did lead my husband and I to doubt whether or not it was a positive result. If you take this test and get two lines, one which is faint, I recommend waiting a day or two and taking the Clearblue Easy Digital test to get a more definitive result. By Anonymous from Undisclosed Comments about First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test Kit, 3 ea: I am so disappointed in this test. I took it when my period was 3 days late because even though I was stressed, I was going on my bachelorette party and didn't want to drink if I was pregnant. Well, the test was negative so I went out & had myself about 5 drinks. Now I'm 2 weeks late, so I went & got myself an EPT with a bonus digital test. I took the regular EPT and within seconds the blue cross showed up. I took the digital one to double check, and it showed up with the word "Pregnant" in less than 2 minutes. Now I have to stress out that I may have harmed my baby, thanks to the unreliability of First Response. I would never trust this test again, especially in a situation like the one I had. When in doubt, do another test by a different manufacturer. (9 of 22 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful?
