Chemical Name: FLUTICASONE (floo-TIK-a-sone)
Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension is a corticosteroid nasal spray used to treat itching, sneezing, congestion, and runny nose due to allergy and other causes.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 50mcg/act SUSPENSION if you are taking HIV protease inhibitors (such as ritonavir). DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including eye infections, recent vaccinations, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Use of Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension in children under age 4 is not recommended. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of giving Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension to your child. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension.
Follow the directions for using Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension provided by your doctor. Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension may come with a patient information leaflet. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension. SHAKE GENTLY before using a dose. Refer to the patient information leaflet for instructions on priming the pump before use. TO USE A NOSE SPRAY, gently blow your nose. Then, sit down and tilt your head forward slightly. Remove the dust cover and place the tip of the nasal applicator into the nose. Using a finger from your other hand, press against the opposite nostril to close it off. Breathe in gently through the open nostril and squeeze the spray container. After using the medicine, wipe the tip of the nasal applicator with a clean tissue and replace the dust cover to prevent contamination. Wash the dust cover and nasal applicator once a week as instructed in the patient information leaflet. Discard the container after you have used the number of sprays stated on the label, even if the container is not emtpy. AVOID SPRAYING FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 50mcg/act SUSPENSION IN YOUR EYES. STORE FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 50mcg/act SUSPENSION at room temperature, away from heat and light. Use Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension regularly to receive the most benefit from it. Using Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension at the same time each day will help you to remember. CONTINUE TO USE FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 50mcg/act SUSPENSION even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 50mcg/act SUSPENSION, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT use 2 doses at once.
DO NOT USE FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 50mcg/act SUSPENSION IF you are allergic to any ingredient in Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension. FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 50mcg/act SUSPENSION MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or other medicines. Use Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension with caution. DO NOT DRIVE OR PERFORM OTHER POSSIBLY UNSAFE TASKS tasks until you know how you react to it. USE CAUTION IF YOU SWITCH FROM AN ORAL STEROID (eg, prednisone) to Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension. It may take several months for your body to make enough natural steroids to handle events that cause physical stress. Such events may include injury, surgery, infection, loss of blood electrolytes, or a sudden asthma attack. These may be severe and sometimes fatal. Contact your doctor right away if any of these events occur. You may need to take an oral steroid (eg, prednisone) again. Carry a card at all times that says you may need an oral steroid if any of these events occur. TELL YOUR DOCTOR OR DENTIST that you take Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery. IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD CHICKENPOX or measles, avoid contact with anyone who does. AVOID SPRAYING IN THE EYES. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. Corticosteroids may affect growth rate in CHILDREN and teenagers in some cases. They may need regular growth checks while they use Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU BECOME PREGNANT, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension while you are pregnant. IT IS NOT KNOWN IF FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 50mcg/act SUSPENSION IS FOUND in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you use Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension include dizziness; headache; nasal irritation or burning; nausea; nosebleeds; sore throat; or vomiting. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience blurred vision or other vision changes; frequent, severe, or persistent nosebleeds or nasal irritation; loss of sense of smell or taste; shortness of breath; sores in the nose; unusual nasal discharge; voice changes; or wheezing. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; or unusual hoarseness. IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
If your symptoms do not improve with regular use of Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/act Suspension or if they become worse, check with your doctor. ALWAYS HAVE A SPARE CONTAINER available in case the unit malfunctions or is empty. DO NOT SHARE FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 50mcg/act SUSPENSION with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 50mcg/act SUSPENSION for other health conditions. KEEP FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 50mcg/act SUSPENSION out of the reach of children. IF YOU WILL BE USING FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 50mcg/act SUSPENSION FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, be sure to obtain necessary refills before your supply runs out.
