This product is designed to kill but not repel ticks. I live in a Lyme endemic area, my kids and my escape artist cat both come in with deer ticks. Last year was a particularly bad tick year for us, early in the season I was finding LOTS of ticks on my treated cat. I called Frontline and I was told that Frontline Plus does not repel ticks. It kills ticks that are on the cat after 12 to 24 hours of exposure. This is great for the cat because it takes that long or longer after the tick bites for Lyme disease to actually be transmitted.
Unfortunately this is not complete protection for your family. if you live in an area where Lyme disease is prevalent, other measures need to be taken to protect the human members of your family, Live ticks will make their way into your home. Maybe most of them are dying when they come off the cat but they won't ALL be. I am continuing to use this product to kill fleas and ticks on my cat, but I will never rely on it to protect the rest of my family. Even on days when we haven't been out in the yard we all carefully check ourselves for ticks.

I've purchased Frontline in the past, and it worked as advertised, but the last box I purchased from drugstore.com may have been COUNTERFEIT. The doses left bald spots on my cats where I applied it, and it did not kill the fleas or prevent ticks. As I was researching new flea prevention products, I learned that Frontline is only guaranteed when sold through certain venues and there are government advisories warning of fake flea medicines being sold. Buyer Beware!

Comments about Frontline Plus For Cats & Kittens 8 Weeks or Older, 6 ea:
The only problem I have is that my cats can tell when I am going to administer the dose. They ( except one cat) act like the Frontline is life threatening.
Comments about Frontline Plus For Cats & Kittens 8 Weeks or Older, 6 ea:
I live in Northern Calif, near the coast, where summers can be hot but winters very, very wet; the perfect breeding ground for fleas. Additionally, the wooded areas and grassy hills of the region allow ticks to flourish. Frontline Plus is the perfect combo for my region.
I have a cat on whom I've given monthly Frontline treatments for 6 years and it has worked great! I apply it only during the end of Spring and through October, giving my cat (and my wallet) a break during the cold, winter months.
Frontline Plus really works to banish fleas and ticks from my cat and keeps the associated side effects, such as worms, at bay. The medicine itself doesn't do this, but the fact that it protects my cat from fleas and their eggs prevents any worm problems. Therefore, not only is your pet flea- and tick-free, but in my cat's case, she's also worm free.
My cat has not experienced any side effects from the use of Frontline when I apply it monthly. She hates it, but tolerates it.
My only minor complaint is that the treatment is so expensive, even when it's sale-priced. I look forward to the day when it becomes generic and can create price competition.

I use this on both of my cats and they are flea free for years. Fleas are awful here where I live. It works very well. I also used this on my three poodles years ago and never had fleas after the second month of drops. Very reliable flea med.
Directions for use: It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. Do not allow children to apply product. To prevent harm to you and your pet, read entire label and directions before each use. Follow all directions and precautionary statements carefully. Use on cats only. Do not use on rabbits. Do not use on other animals. To kill fleas, and all stages of brown dog ticks, American dog ticks, lone star ticks, and deer ticks (which may carry Lyme disease) and chewing lice, apply to cats and kittens (8 weeks or older) as follows: Remove applicator from child-resistant package. Hold applicator upright and snap applicator tip away from face and body. Place applicator tip through animal's hair to the skin level between the shoulder blades. Squeeze applicator, applying entire contents in a single spot to the animal's skin. Avoid superficial application to the animal's hair. Only 1 applicator per treatment is needed. Frequency of application: When used monthly, Frontline Plus for Cats completely breaks the flea life cycle and controls tick and chewing lice infestations. Research demonstrates that Frontline Plus kills adult fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae for up to 6 weeks. Frontline Plus also prevents development of all flea stages for up to 6 weeks. Frontline Plus kills ticks for at least 1 month. A once monthly application is recommended where tick control is needed. Although Frontline Plus can control fleas for up to 6 weeks, if there is a high risk of reinfestation or if the pet has fleas which may cause flea allergy dermatitis, a once monthly application may be needed. Frontline Plus for Cats remains effective even after bathing, water immersion, or exposure to sunlight. Avoid contact with treated area until dry. Do not reapply Frontline Plus for 30 days. Storage and disposal: Do not contaminate water, food, or feed by storage and disposal. Storage: Store unused product in original container only, out of reach of children and animals.
