Tips for frownies

1) The glue on the back of these Frownies is quite strong. As such, I recommend that you only wear these on nights when you plan on taking a shower the next morning. This is because the steam from the shower will help in dissolving the glue and therefore removing the Frownie. Otherwise, if you are just washing your face say over the sink the next morning, you'll have to spend at least a few minutes wetting the Frownie, waiting a bit, trying to pull it away from your face a bit, wetting it some more, etc. Unless you are the type of person who feels comfortable YANKING the Frownie and glue from your face (which to me would be too rough on your skin), it is going to take a bit of work to soften the Frownie/glue. Therefore, iIt's much much easier to just let the steam from the shower do most of the work. What I find helps is….before you go into the shower, wet the Frownie well, and try and pull up at least some of the edges of the Frownie. This in turn will help the steam/water from the shower get under the edges of the Frownie to help dissolve the glue….
2) As far as applying the Frownie before bed, I find that a smaller piece of the patch is better, so I will often cut them down a bit in size. The reason for this is….I usually apply the Frownie to either the area immediately over my eyebrow (where I have a deep horizontal line) or else to the area between my two eyebrows. Either way, I find the patches are too big and end up pulling too big an area of my skin together due to the sheer strength of the glue. The Frownie's directions really aren't good at explaining this or giving you any 'tips' but….because this glue is so strong, and the patches somewhat big (at least for my face), if you use the entire patch it can actually seem to create MORE 'wrinkles' because the strong glue can pull on your skin, PARTICULARLY along the edges of the Frownies patch. In addition, if you DO wet the entire surface area of the patch and then apply it to your face, the EDGES of the patch (which are very distinct and somewhat 'sharp'), can often dig INTO your skin, and when you remove the patch, you are left with 'dents' on your face from the edges of the patch. Therefore, when I wet the back of the patch, I only wet the center section of it….NOT the edges. I then place the patch on my face and press on the center of the patch only, leaving the edges of the patch remaining dry and therefore not stuck to my face. Depending on the size of the patch and where on my face I placed it, I might then take small scissors and cut off the edges of the patch if they are protruding too much.

They do work, but I find that I have to be very consistent with them to keep the results. I'm not sure I want to wear stickers to bed for the rest of my life. I agree with another reviewer that it might be best for leading up to a big event. They're not a very sexy accessory to wear to bed. Also, my skin is a little sensitive, so I have to be careful taking them off (soak the pad thoroughly for a while) or I get a red patch where it was. Overall, though, I'd recommend them, because they do work.

Comments about Frownies Facial Pads, Use on Forehead and Between Eyes, 144 ea:

I've used about three times now and notice a bit of difference. However, I wouldn't go overboard at first with too many strips - you'll end up with a reddish forehead like I did. I just used regular water (in a spritzer) to apply and remove and used a super gentle cleanser (Cetaphil)and worked out pretty well (at least so far).

Make sure that you remove any creams and moisturizers from the area that you are using these on. Consistent use is important for all skin care, so I set myself up on a regular schedule of two or three times a week. I like the results!

Comments about Frownies Facial Pads, Use on Forehead and Between Eyes, 144 ea:

I don't really understand the negative reviews here. I've been using these for about a year and they really work! I'm in my twenties, but I have an annoying, rather persistent line between my eyebrows. Frownies make it less noticeable and keep it from getting worse. They work while you're sleeping, but when used consistently they also weaken your forehead muscles so that you don't move them as much when you're awake--like Botox but not toxic. You *can* move your forehead, but it takes effort.

A bit of troubleshooting: when you apply them to your forehead (which should be freshly cleaned with no lotion), you'll want to only get them a *little bit* wet. DO NOT emmerse them in water, get your finger wet and moisten the back of the square until its a bit sticky. Then press the square on your forehead and hold it there applying equal pressure to each corner for about a minute until it's secure. If you do this you shouldn't have the problems that some of the users here have reported.

As others have noted, it's best to remove this in the shower. It can irritate or dry the skin, so you'll want to put a good thick moisturizer on this portion of your forehead after removing it.

Overall, I love this product and it's an essential part of my beauty regiment. Your family may tease you, and it's not great for dating, but it's definitely effective if used as I have outlined above.

I have been buying this product for 5yrs and will continue to buy it. It really works and keeps my fine lines and wrinkles at bay. The only difficulty was using it for the first 3 or 4 times putting on my skin. You get the hang of it and now i can do it in my sleep. I put them on EVERY night and they come off easily when i take my shower. Do not try to take them off if your skin is not completely wet and moist. Love them, will never be w/out them. You got to try!

Honestly, I think many users' dislike of this product is just resistance to its kinda-sorta-weirdness. walking around the house with paper stuck to your face? Ya, okay, your kids might laugh at you. I even forgot it was there one day and answered the door to the exterminator...took me a couple of hours later to figure out why he was staring at my forehead. And yes, peeling the paper off does not feel SOOTHING, exactly, but it's not a bikini wax either, and lots of women don't think twice about having their hair forcibly ripped out of its follicle. SO...that being said. ..if you use Frownies consistently, and over time, you will see a difference in the lines you're using them on. And the best part is, when you actually DO want to express emotion, skepticism, whatevs...your face can still actually MOVE! So forget the botox and try frownies if you prefer a less toxic, less painful way to smooth your face.

Still waiting for a refund for this product which I returned. It turned out to be no more than cheap pieces of paper with glue which you wet and stick on your face. I got burns from the glue, so it is an extremely harsh adhesive. How is gluing your face going to help with lines?

I was ecstatic when I discovered Frownies for use on the forehead and between the eyes. I was looking for a natural remedy to Botox and for me these Frownies are the best alternative. I have oily skin, so sometimes I use first aid cloth tape to reinforce the corners of the Frownies after I have applied them. This is usually just during the summer months when my skin tends to be more oily. I have been using Frownies for six years and they are very effective.
