Tips for frownies

1) The glue on the back of these Frownies is quite strong. As such, I recommend that you only wear these on nights when you plan on taking a shower the next morning. This is because the steam from the shower will help in dissolving the glue and therefore removing the Frownie. Otherwise, if you are just washing your face say over the sink the next morning, you'll have to spend at least a few minutes wetting the Frownie, waiting a bit, trying to pull it away from your face a bit, wetting it some more, etc. Unless you are the type of person who feels comfortable YANKING the Frownie and glue from your face (which to me would be too rough on your skin), it is going to take a bit of work to soften the Frownie/glue. Therefore, iIt's much much easier to just let the steam from the shower do most of the work. What I find helps is….before you go into the shower, wet the Frownie well, and try and pull up at least some of the edges of the Frownie. This in turn will help the steam/water from the shower get under the edges of the Frownie to help dissolve the glue….
2) As far as applying the Frownie before bed, I find that a smaller piece of the patch is better, so I will often cut them down a bit in size. The reason for this is….I usually apply the Frownie to either the area immediately over my eyebrow (where I have a deep horizontal line) or else to the area between my two eyebrows. Either way, I find the patches are too big and end up pulling too big an area of my skin together due to the sheer strength of the glue. The Frownie's directions really aren't good at explaining this or giving you any 'tips' but….because this glue is so strong, and the patches somewhat big (at least for my face), if you use the entire patch it can actually seem to create MORE 'wrinkles' because the strong glue can pull on your skin, PARTICULARLY along the edges of the Frownies patch. In addition, if you DO wet the entire surface area of the patch and then apply it to your face, the EDGES of the patch (which are very distinct and somewhat 'sharp'), can often dig INTO your skin, and when you remove the patch, you are left with 'dents' on your face from the edges of the patch. Therefore, when I wet the back of the patch, I only wet the center section of it….NOT the edges. I then place the patch on my face and press on the center of the patch only, leaving the edges of the patch remaining dry and therefore not stuck to my face. Depending on the size of the patch and where on my face I placed it, I might then take small scissors and cut off the edges of the patch if they are protruding too much.

These do reduce the depth of brow creases between the eyes, of course you have to use them consistently to get the best result. I have only been using them for a couple of weeks but I see that they work. One word of caution - if you are older & have skin that holds onto creases & lines from pressure (like a pillow case wrinkle) - make sure you remove the used product early enough to allow time for your skin to recover. There may be little edge lines from the paper that appear once removed. It is also best to limit the amount of time you wear them - longer = more likely to wake up with those 'edge lines'. This product was created a long time ago & it seems the simple materials haven't changed either. They are brown craft paper, with what I believe to be the original formula for postage sealing tape glue on one side. You can still buy the sealing tape & if you've smelled the wet tape it smells like the Frownies. The simple combination of materials creates a pulling effect on skin once the glue dries & stiffens the paper which then basically holds the skin in position while you sleep, relaxing the muscles enough to decrease the appearance of the crease - ta da - you look a little better without Botox!

Comments about Frownies Facial Pads, Use on Forehead & Between Eyes, 144 ea:

Frownies actually work! They are like brown craft paper that have some sort of sticky on the back that is activated with a spritz of water (or rosewater for best results). You smooth out the wrinkles and place the Frownies there and leave them on for several hours or overnight. (I use mine overnight which is preferable). They work by re-training the muscles to relax Smoothing out the wrinkles and applying a Frownie keeps the muscle relaxed overnight which, in time, retrains the muscles. After a couple of weeks of using every night, there was a noticeable difference in my wrinkles between the brows. Now that I have been using most nights for a couple of months, the wrinkles are even less noticeable. The Frownies are comfortable to wear, and I almost forget they are there. A low-tech solution that really works - and they don't both my ultra-sensative skin.

I was hoping for the best, but the glue was itchy and the paper uncomfortable. I had to remove them. Also, they don't tell you that you need their spray to use them properly. I did order it when I found out and then tried them as directed. It's just not for me.

This product works great for the wrinkles I have targeted. I use between brows every night. They have greatly improved the lines I was beginning to get. I end up cutting the triangles in half so they fit better. Easy to use every night, you don't even feel it when it is on.

I've only used it a few times at night and I can't tell a change yet. I'm only using it on my forehead between my eyes, but I must crunch my face there at night. I know it takes awhile to show improvement, but they are easy to use. You just look funny wearing them.

Comments about Frownies Facial Pads, Use on Forehead & Between Eyes, 144 ea:

I am 44 years old and although I take very good care of my skin, I have a terrible habit of frowning, mostly unconsciously. Also, I sleep on my side and smash my face into the pillow when I sleep at night. After 44 years of these bad habits, I have developed some serious "elevens" on my forehead. Sometimes I think they are more like "1,111"s on my forehead. I have used Botox with super great results from a very good doctor for a while, but found it to be too expensive for the amount of time that it worked. It would last anywhere from 1 to 3 months, with a month being the optimal time period. Botox results "work up" to its optimal result for about 2 weeks, stay in that optimal phase for about a month, then slowly decline over the next month. So after doing that for a while, I decided to stop. So then I discover Frownies and use them all the time now. They DO work, but it needs to be consistent. Use it nightly at first, then every other night thereafter. Since I am a side sleeper, I try my best to use them every single night. When I do miss a night, I notice a difference right away. But when I miss several nights in a row, I notice a HUGE difference. Frownies will never be better than Botox, but for the price and convenience, it can come almost close AND you don't have that funny unnatural look...you know that Cruella Deville eyebrow look? A side benefit for me is that since it really "trains" the muscles to relax, I feel more relaxed during the day and when I inadvertently frown, I notice and stop right away. These are the steps I take at night to get my 1111's tamed:
                  1. Wash face first. Get rid of all the make up and grease. They will not stick at all if you have a hint of grease. I have very oily skin still at my age and need to get my skin squeaky clean. I love Phisoderm for oily skin. I also buy it on Drugstore.com.
                  2. Separate 3 triangles. I use 3 all the time because of the expanse of the 1111's.
                  3. I have a water spritzer that I sprits a little bit of water on in the middle of the triangle and spread it over the whole triangle.
                  4. Starting on one side, above the eyebrow, I gently pull on the skin to smooth out the line and place the triangle above the eyebrow, longest side of the triangle parallel to the eyebrow so that the triangle points up toward the hairline. Hold for about 30 seconds fully flat. Do the same on the other side. The corner tips of the triangles almost touch in the center of the forehead.
                  5. The third triangles goes right in the middle, but facing down now. Spread out the brows apart from one another before applying the last one. This will keep the whole are flat at smooth all night long, even if you sleep on your side.
After doing that, then I apply all the night time magic creams and so forth, avoiding the patches. The whole process takes me about 4 minutes. When I wake up, I just rip them off because I'm used to it, but I would not recommend that for those with sensitive skin or are new at using it. I would remove it when I shower or take a steamy hot washcloth and loosen it that way. The area will be red for about 10 minutes afterwards. And over the next few hours, the super duper smoothness will start to give way to those pesky little lines, but will be much MUCH softer in appearance and retain that more relaxed appearance throughout the day. I love FROWNIES and I take them everywhere I go.

You get used to the irritation, but I sometimes fold up the sharp edges at the corners. With regular use, this minimizes the depth and extent of wrinkles on the forehead. When I miss a night, I really notice it the next day. Relatively inexpensive. Not perfect, but better than a lot of products that don't deliver any results.
