After showering and using my other skin care products I apply Fruit of the Earth's Aloe Vera Gel as the finishing layer (under make up). It is amazing at calming my irritated skin and decreasing the redness. I will often apply it before going to bed too if my rosacea is flairing at night. I have used a lot of products promising rosacea care and this product is one that has really helped. I love that it doesn't have other additives found in other Aloe Vera Gels like alcohol that irritates my skin even more. Fruit of the Earth is gentle and effective. After my shower I used it in my hair instead of my usual gel, on my face instead of my usual facial moisturizer, and all over my body instead of my usual cream. By chance, it was a rainy, humid summer day. From the moment I applied it, my face felt weird (some have described it as tight). My hair felt very soft. But after walking around in the moisture, I could feel the coating of gel all over me, slightly sticky and itchy, especially on my face. Compared with my regular hair gel, this did nothing to keep my curls defined and frizz-free. I bought the product on the recommendation of a dermatologist friend who said it was great for sunburn, so if I ever get a sunburn I'll be back to let you know how that worked, but in the meantime I'm going back to my usual hair, face and skin products. By the way, I agree with the reviewer who noted that it is extremely deceptive the way the product says it is 100% gel, not 100% aloe. Many reviewers don't seem to realize this is not a pure aloe product. I also don't understand all those who liked the smell, since I found the product to have no scent whatsoever. This gel helps reduce irritation and cools the skin. I also use it after hair removal, and the redness on my skin is gone within 15 minutes. It works excellent after a day at the beach, helping any sunburn or irritation. I use it even on my hair. I'm not going anywhere without a tube. It's a great first aid product that no home should be without. I highly recommend this product and I'm so happy I've discovered it on drugstore.com. Contrary to reviews, it did NOT clear my acne, although during the first couple days of use it seemed to (after that it seemed to make my face oily). Didn't moisturize as much as I'd wanted. Works great for loose-hold hair gel that doesn't "powder" or leave residue. Good for sunburn and the "barrier" effect worked really well on my raggedy cuticles (and it didn't sting at all!). I wouldn't recommend it for acne or moisturizing, but for sunburn/protecting cuts it is definitely my favorite. I recently poured BOILING hot tea over my hand and after putting my hand in cold water, I realized that I had this gel in my bathroom (I use it every day to calm hair flyaways), so I just spread one thin layer on top of the burn. When it felt hot again, I spread another layer. Then it stopped hurting. On the next day it didn't even look like anything had happened! Last time the same thing happened to me but I did not have the gel and I got blisters and my skin got so bad for a whole week. Now I store my gel in the fridge just in case!! It controls oil very well, and my used-to-be oily skin is dry, so I'm going to have to find a richer moisturizer with this. That's why I took off one star. It also works great as an eye gel. My face is very oily and acne prone, but I still need a moisturizer, and Fruit of the Earth is great because it absorbs quickly and is not the least bit greasy. I have super straight fine hair which gets oily quickly, and as a hair gel Fruit of the Earth provides light control, does not weigh my hair down, and makes it super soft. I have tried tons of expensive styling products which just make my hair look stiff or greasy - none of them work as well as Fruit of the Earth. It's great for traveling, because I just need to pack one container instead of styling products and moisturizers. I've been using Fruit of the Earth Aloe Gel for about 5 years now. It's great for acne and also good for psoriasis.
