After showering and using my other skin care products I apply Fruit of the Earth's Aloe Vera Gel as the finishing layer (under make up). It is amazing at calming my irritated skin and decreasing the redness. I will often apply it before going to bed too if my rosacea is flairing at night. I have used a lot of products promising rosacea care and this product is one that has really helped. I love that it doesn't have other additives found in other Aloe Vera Gels like alcohol that irritates my skin even more. Fruit of the Earth is gentle and effective. After my shower I used it in my hair instead of my usual gel, on my face instead of my usual facial moisturizer, and all over my body instead of my usual cream. By chance, it was a rainy, humid summer day. From the moment I applied it, my face felt weird (some have described it as tight). My hair felt very soft. But after walking around in the moisture, I could feel the coating of gel all over me, slightly sticky and itchy, especially on my face. Compared with my regular hair gel, this did nothing to keep my curls defined and frizz-free. I bought the product on the recommendation of a dermatologist friend who said it was great for sunburn, so if I ever get a sunburn I'll be back to let you know how that worked, but in the meantime I'm going back to my usual hair, face and skin products. By the way, I agree with the reviewer who noted that it is extremely deceptive the way the product says it is 100% gel, not 100% aloe. Many reviewers don't seem to realize this is not a pure aloe product. I also don't understand all those who liked the smell, since I found the product to have no scent whatsoever. It controls and defines the curls of even very curl/kinky hair without weighing it down. It keeps a healthy shine but without the greasy feeling. I recommend this product for parents of mixed children or anyone with curly or kinky hair. However, I did discover the formula for the best hand lotion ever using this stuff... just mix together 1 part apricot oil (like from Burt's Bees) and 3 parts aloe gel, ajusting the amounts if you want. I put it on my hands before I went to bed and they felt soft but not greasy in the morning! They even stayed soft after washing my hands a few times. I work with little kids, so I wash my hands all the time, which makes them quite dry, but since I made my "Aloe Apricot Lotion Potion, it hasn't been a problem. This is only thing that I've found to work, and work quickly. It is wonderful for burns, chapped, and irritated skin. We are now retired and living in Mexico. Whenever we are back in the 'states,' this is one of the products at the top of our list to stock up on. I also use it on our aging dogs' "elbows," which become sore and cracked at times. If you have a very irritated area, it will burn at first when you apply it, but within a minute will soothe. The trick is to keep applying at least two or three times the first day, and continue each day until the irritation is gone. As a preventative measure, apply after a shower if you have an area prone to irritation. And everyone should have this product in the kitchen and their medicine cabinet for burns. I have very sensitive skin, and aloe tames the redness like nothing else. It has also improved the texture of my skin. I wouldn't be without it.
