Effective January 1, 2011 items such as cough medicines, pain relievers, acid controllers, and diaper rash ointment are no longer eligible for purchase with an FSA or HRA payment card. Instead, purchase these items using some other form of payment and then submit a manual reimbursement request accompanied by a doctor's prescription to your plan administrator. For your convenience, we marked items with either and FSA icon or an FSA RX icon to help you identify qualifying items.
The IRS sets the guidelines for FSA product eligibility and individual FSA plans have the final determination of which expenses are covered by their FSA programs. We are a member of SIGIS (sigis.com), an industry group that determines eligibility of specific items. We follow their list of eligible products.
drugstore.com will continue to be a valuable resource for FSA participants with the largest online selection of FSA eligible products.
