Gain is a good laundry detergent at a good price, and works well in cold water. What really gets most of its die hard fans coming back over and over is the smell. The fresh fragrance lasts longer than most detergents. The floral aspect of the scent stays strong for a few days, but the woody aspect can linger on for weeks. When women say they love the scent of a man wearing Gain-washed clothes, I suspect they are talking about the lingering woody scent, and not the floral scent that is strongest right out of the dryer. Needless to say, this scent is way too strong for fragrance sensitive folks, and might trigger hay fever in some. However, if you like a long-lasting fragrance on your clean clothes, and don't want to spend a lot of money on your detergent, Gain is one to try.

Every once in a while I buy a laundry detergent other than Gain. I always regret it, and I always go back to Gain. No other detergent I have ever used has been as good. It gets all my clothes and linens really clean without being hard on them, keeps the whites white and the colors bright, and the smell is wonderful. Gain works as well in cold water as hot. I've used it in hard water and in soft water, and it works equally well in either. Simply the best.

This detergent lasts as long as powder if used correctly. The smell is so fresh and clean. It lasts forever and makes a whole room smell fresh for days. I love this product

Gain is a great detergent....I NEVER use anything else, however, I have always used the powered kind. I tried the liquid, but my family and I agree that we don't like it at all. It didn't last very long (probably due to incorrect use) so we are going back to our old powered kind. I wish you'd offer that onlyin!

I love the Gain ads on TV and my mother uses it and it makes her towels smell great, but to me, while using it on my own laundry, it smells like those chips people put in hamster cages. :- | My mom mixes it with a tiny bit of bleach for her white towels, so perhaps this is what contributes to the fresh scent??? But for me, I just think "hamster cage, hamsters!" when I pour it into the wash and then smell my clothes after they've dried. :( It does seem to clean clothes very well though so that's why I gave it a 3 star "works just fine".

Gain is the best laundry detergent!!! Others (especially Surf & Tide) have horribly irritated both my husband & I's skin. Gain smells great, works great, and is our favorite.
