This is what I have been searching for!! I have 'strongly wavy' (according to Devachan Salon) but frizzy irregularly curled hair especially in low winter humidity - so I straighten it with a blow dryer and round boar brush. Sometimes I comb a toothed iron through to smooth it further and re-add some curl. Because my hair texture is somewhat fine, I don't use a flat iron or it gets too straight and looks limp even though I have a lot of hair (volume). I have tried so many products and tools over the years. Every product which promised to make straightening with a blow dryer easy pales in comparison to this Garnier balm. This makes my hair nearly perfectly stick straight so it looks flat ironed and shiny but not flat and Keeps it that way! It has held up to being rained on.
I'm curious to see if this balm will work as an air dry gel to hold my curls frizz-free in the summer, even though the directions say to blow dry, sometimes these products can be air dried and then scrunched. But so far I'm enjoying it straight - so much that I may just keep using this and wear my hair straight all summer.
It doesn't take much and it smells just as nice as their other products, maybe better. Can't beat the price either. I also use their mousse and sometimes hairspray. I haven't used sulfates since'04 which has reduced my frizz but hasn't fixed my wonky curl pattern.
