Comments about Garnier Nutrisse Level 3 Permanent Creme Haircolor, Light Ash Brown 61 (Mochaccino), 1 ea:

I'm a Hydrience orphan, #46, and my stockpile finally ran out so I had to switch. Based on customer reviews I chose Garnier Nutrisse. I bought both #51 (med ash brown) and #61 (light ash brown) and decided to try #61 first. I'm an experienced home color-er but read the instructions carefully in advance anyway and followed them exactly throughout the coloring process.

I found the product a little too thick for my long hair, but on the other hand I had no splatters anywhere. There was sufficient product, a pleasant surprise. It was a little disconcerting though that the product does not change color for like 10 or so minutes, being almost completely white made it a little more difficult to ensure complete and even application.

When I was all done, hair colored, rinsed, conditioned, and dried, I scrutinized the results. The parts of my hair that already had Hydrience color looked fantastic, a true neutral brown. But the roots didn't look so good, they were noticeably lighter. Now after 2 shampoos they are even lighter, so light that I will need to recolor in just 1 week! Does this product fade so quickly? My hair is nearly 100% gray on the top, decreasing to non-gray at the nape of my neck. Perhaps it's just not a good color for gray coverate, or I need to leave it on longer or go with the darker color?

Alas, I'm going to switch brands entirely. Why? The smell! So many reviewers said this product smells great. I totally disagree! The oil packet does nothing to hide a very bizarre and horribly unpleasant stench which remains on the hair fully even after using the conditioner. I remember reading a review written by someone who said her cat won't go near her, and now I know why! After two shampoos I can still smell the stink though I'll admit it's minimal. Hydrience smelled like an ammonia factory during the coloring process but didn't leave any smell on my hair afterward. I also think it's interesting that I had an epic rosacea flare after using Nutrisse. So Garnier Nutrisse, thanks for not turning my hair into a disaster, and you're probably a good product for women who have few or no grays and who can stand the smell, but I'm moving on ...

I am a makeup artist and need to look good. Both expensive salon-color and many tries at home color from competitors to health-food store brands had turned my hair into a brassy, cheep looking, try and frizzy , blond mop. During family visit, my cousin, who is a hairdresser shook her head at me and recommended this product. Finally my looks naturally blond and shiny! I am so grateful. It also looks cool if you leave out a few strands on top as a highlight or for contrast, just like $300 multi-tonal applications from salons....Have fun!

I changed from Clairol Hydrience to Garnier Nutrisse level 3. It seems Hydrience is being phased out. I was also unhappy with the color I was getting. I wanted ash brown but Hydrience was putting a lot of red in my hair. I tried Nutrisse about 6 months ago and am very happy. I am getting the light ash brown without the horrible smell of other Level 3 products. I color once a month and it looks very natural not a flat color.

I have been using this to color my hair every 3-6 weeks for over 6 months. It does not have an overpowering or bad smell. It is not drippy nor messy. Very easy to use. The color seems to fade more quickly sometimes and last longer at other times but overall I think the color is very natural looking and I am happy to have found this and intend to use it regularly for the foreseeable future.
