Normally I love Gillette Mach 3 blades and am willing to pay the price for quality. But I the blades I received from my last order clearly were either fake or defective:-wrong color-dull blade-lasted only about 4 uses before needing to be changed-didn't work nearly as well as the Gillette Mach 3 I just bought from an actual drug store.[...]

The blades are expensive, even years after their initial product launch, but I still use them to this day. I see no reason to 'upgrade' to a 4-blade shave as this works like a charm. My only real suggestion is to never leave the blades in the shower. As soon as that blue strip is gone, you might as well toss the blade. Keeping it semi-dry (at least out of the shower) is the best way to keep your blades in top shape.

The Gillette MACH3 is the Defacto razor system in disposable razor blades. These cut smooth and clean every time, and they are almost impossible to cut yourself with (as long as the blade is not too old and you're not being a complete moron when shaving.) The open-backed design of the cartridge is great because they can be rinsed out very easily.The only down side it that these things are fraking expensive! [$] per cartridge for something that probably costs $.50 to manufacture and $.40 to package is crazy...but they work so I'll probably keep on buying them.
