I purchased these bags primarily because they are made from 65% recycled plastic. They don't carry these bags in my local stores. They are much thicker and stronger than other recycled brands I have tried in the past. I normally don't buy draw string bags, so I don't mind that these are not. The draw string type are bulky and don't work well with my step-on can that has a can liner, but these bags are perfect. I don't bother with the twist ties. I just gather up half of the top of the bag in each hand and ties a big knot. It works for me. I think it is important to buy recycled products whenever possible so long as they are a good value and these bags are in my opinion.
Since I'm just going to send my trash bags to the landfill I prefer that they are made from recycled plastic. They're only 65% recycled but that's more than any others I've found. The other "green" trash bags are "biodegradable", but only if exposed to enough air (which they're probably not at the landfill). I use these just like any other trash bags, for all my yuckiest garbage, and they perform just as well as other bags. The only drawback is that they don't have drawstrings but they do come with twist ties. I'll definitely buy them again!
I like the bags with the tabs (to tie together) but I will keep using these. There are no 'green' choices at my local grocers, and these bags work as well as a regular (not heavy duty) bag.
