Classic, Balanced Formula
Drawing upon a tradition of creating pharmaceutical, medical and cosmetic products for nearly two centuries, the firm of DREITURM GmbH first created the Glysomed hand cream many decades ago before adding the body lotion and foot balm. The formulas are carefully balanced to provide maximum care for each specific skin area, but they have the common theme of providing straight-forward help for dry, rough and cracking skin. Glycerin, valued for its moisturizing and regenerative benefits, is a key ingredient. Not only does it help to directly relieve thirsty skin tissues, but it acts as a humectant to actively attract additional moisture. Supplemented with such natural oils as olive oil and shea butter, the formula is non-comedogenic (it does not clog the pores) yet still helps to strengthen the skin barrier function to prevent loss of hydration. Soothing, healing botanicals, including chamomile and aloe vera, among others, are also added along with vitamin E to provide antioxidant benefits.
Purity and Safety, Ethically
Dry, cracked skin is compromised skin often already inflamed by contact dermatitis. In these circumstances, the Glysomed products must be formulated with pure ingredients; they need to be effective, but not harsh or likely to cause additional difficulties. Formulated to be compatible with all skin types, the products are hypo-allergenic, non-comedogenic and fragrance-free. All ingredients are listed in detail on packaging and in product descriptions, to help avoid difficulties with individual sensitivities. Product safety is of primary concern, but with Glysomed it is achieved without animal testing. The manufacturer works with outside laboratories which specialize in alternate methods of safety testing which do not use animals. In fact, they contribute to Johns Hopkins University to help support research into finding alternate safety testing methods, working towards the day when the use of animals in laboratory testing will no longer be used anywhere.
Caring for areas of dry, rough skin is not only part of beauty care, but also a matter of health. Millions of people with diabetes or pre-diabetes conditions suffer from these problems, especially on their feet. The makers of Glysomed work in alliance with the Canadian Diabetes Association, supporting their education and research programs to help diabetes patients with skin care issues.
