Comments about GNC Calcium Citrate 1000, Tablets, 180 ea: I was very glad to find pure calcium citrate with no Vitamin D, Magnesium, or other minerals added. I prefer to know exactly what I'm taking and in what combination, not a dose of minerals predetermined by the manufacturer. It's difficult to make a price comparison when every other calcium citrate I've tried has other vitamins and minerals added, but [$] for a sixty-day supply doesn't seem exorbitant to me. (Doctor's orders are to take 1500 mg. per day.) Calcium carbonate is a lot cheaper, but its benefits are dubious and in fact, it may be harmful according to the latest medical news I've read. Comments about GNC Calcium Citrate 1000, Tablets, 180 ea: I like that this product does not have Vitamin D in it; it allows me to get my calcium from readily-absorbed calcium citrate without overdosing on D (D is easy to overdose on because it isn't water soluble and is readily available from other sources such as sunshine and most dairy products). Comments about GNC Calcium Citrate 1000, Tablets, 180 ea: I'm supposed to take 1500 mg of calcium per day. After researching and also attending Bones for Life classes, I've come to the conclusion that CA Citrate has good absorption. Also I cannot take the other more common form of calcium, because it upsets my stomach. I do not mind taking 3 of these a day with several glasses of fresh milk. I also take 2000 IU of vitamin D (I like the smaller Nature Made pills). I do wish the label was clearer as it should be called Calcium 250. The calcium research out there is not very clear, but what I understand is that the citrate has good absorption into the bloodstream, although no calcium absorbs at 100%. Also that our bodies cannot handle absorbing more that 500 mg at one time. So you may as well get your calcium in several doses. Cons Best Uses Comments about GNC Calcium Citrate 1000, Tablets, 180 ea: [...] I got it [...] at a reasonable price, and fresh, great quality. You can't ask for more than that when you're ordering online. This is a big bottle of calcium citrate in a fairly high dose-- 1000 mg. Kosher, vegetarian. The bottle I received has an expiration date of 2011, so I know it's super fresh-- just as all the other GNC items I've bought from here have been.
