These are one of my all-time favorite cold remedies because they actually work and they taste great (unlike many other zinc lozenges). You need to take them as soon as you feel a sore throat coming on; they're most effective if you act quickly. You also need to let them completely dissolve on your tongue. I also double-up on these (meaning that I suck on one, then another immediately after) and I do six to eight tablets in a day. 99% of the time, my sore throat is gone that same day. I usually do two more the following day just to be sure it's gone. If I have a runny nose or congestion in addition to a sore throat, I usually take 2-3 doses of Airborne as well on the first day and 1-2 doses of Airborne the following day. This combination usually either prevents a cold entirely, or gets rid of it in a day and keeps the symptoms very mild. Since I've been doing this for the last decade, I think I've had two colds, and one sore throat.
My husband and I both use this at the first slight sign of an oncoming cold and find it effective in limiting the symptoms. I've tried other zinc lozenges that tasted so awful it was a chore to use them. These taste fine, kind of tangy, and they dissolve relatively quickly, not so much like a sucking candy as others I've tried. I recommend these.
At the onset of a cold (i.e. throat beginning to get sore or itchy), take the lozenges. If you catch it at this stage, you can prevent cold or flu altogether, or at least really shorten it. Take as part of a preventive regimen with ginger tea and honey, lemon.
