My doctor told me that people with MS must take this vitamin as we are deficient in it. Also because I have fair skin and can no longer go in the sun, this is the easiest way for my body to get vitamin D.

A rather large round tablet with no enteric coating at all making it very dry and hard to swallow. If you concentrate on where it is in your mouth and have plenty of water, you can be successful, but it would seem a better form could be available to make this useful and effective product easier to take. I hope GNC will consider changing the form.

With a history of Breast Cancer, Dr. suggested more D and this fit the bill for him.

I suffer from mood swings along with a low baseline of depression, and a friend suggested Vit. D supplements. It is true that I had avoided the sun for 4 summers straight while on a moderate dose of lithium (NO heat/sun tolerance), so taking vit. D seemed that it might help with that everyday lack of energy/ low mood.
It did! I started taking 2 of these tablets per day about a month ago, and still I do not go a day without taking at least one. Since my mood has improved going OFF of several meds (including lithium), I'm now down to about 1 a day - unless my mood starts to dip. I think this will be a life-saver in the winter. Esp. since I'm mildly lactose intolerant and do not down a whole lot of fortified milk.
Have not experienced any interactions with the anti-depressant or anti-anxiety meds.

My doctor tested my vitamin D level and found it was low. She suggested that I start taking vitamin D3 supplements. They're not that easy to find (vs. the regular vitamin D pills) so was happy to see them here. I can't speak to the efficacy of them. I guess I'll only find that out when I visit my doctor again and she checks my level. So this rating is based on price and ease of swallowing, which I find both to be great.
