The pain subsides instantly and I'm a happy clerk! This stuff takes a while to wash off,though. I still have instances when I rub my eyes and realize that I didn't wash my hands thoroughly. I must look so stupid running around the room screaming. I rub it on, put on loose socks and let it do its thing. Two precautions: 1. make sure you wipe it off the bottom of your feet before you get into the shower because it tends to be a little slippery when wet. 2. wash your hands afterward, it's strong enough to burn sensitive areas if you happen to touch them. It does warm up so if you sweat or wear a heavy sock it will feel like your foot is on fire but for my heal pain it is perfect for plantar faciaitis and bone spur pain.
