We were having trouble this winter with extremely over-dry, chapped hands with visible cracking of the skin which was really causing great discomfort. I purchased this particular version of Gold Bond lotion because it looked like the healthiest ingredient listing out of all of Gold Bond's products (and many of the other concentrated hand cream manufacturers on the regular commercial market, not including health food store brands). This thick lotion (actually it is just like hand CREAM, not lotion) works fantastically. It is greaseless, sinks in almost immediately, and leaves the hands with a very pleasant moisturized feeling that instantly takes away any burning from dryness and alleviates the skin cracking. In addition, the fragrance-free version is an outstanding plus, so you don't have to be bothered by any obnoxious scents that hang around and possibly even cause headaches and other health problems. The only drawbacks at all I have to comment on about this product are a few of the ingredients: I'm not thrilled about the petrolatum, which is an occlusive ingredient, retinyl palmitate is suspected as a photocarcinogen (make SURE that you don't have this lotion on your skin when you go out into the sun), propylene glycol is an extremely unhealthy ingredient, and unfortunately Gold Bond is still using parabens as preservatives (methylparaben and propylparaben), which are suspected cancer-causing agents. Those parabens are cheap preservatives that could easily be replaced with healthier items. But still, take a look at many other commercial brands' ingredients, and they are even worse! This Gold Bond product is much better than most. And again, fragrance-free is the healthiest way to go. Synthetic fragrances are actually more health-damaging in many ways than all of the other problematic ingredients I listed above, so it is really great they made a fragrance-free version.

The Ultimate line of Gold Bond lotion is AMAZING! The bottle lasts me a little over a month of very heavy use. I use it as a deep, thick moisturizer on my face at night and in the afternoon, but i would NEVER leave the house with this on my face. This is the most, non-irritating of the Gold Bond lotions, but I think others work better to deep moisturize.

I had been searching years for a product to help heal/prevent dry, red, cracked hands and Gold Bond Ultimate Soothing Skin Therapy Lotion is it! I love this product. It goes on easy, non-greasy, fragrance-free, absorbs quickly and lasts. I have found it to work better than Aveeno and even the Vaseline Clinical Therapy Lotion. I hope they never stop making this product.
