The soap is black and smelled like dirty smokey soot. I figured that it must smell clean like pine once it got wet otherwise the product would have gone out of business. Nope, gave my hands that dirty smokey sooty stench when I used it. I am very skeptical of the authenticity of the reviews above one star.

My husband loves this soap and asks for it all the time. The fragrance is something that takes getting a bit of getting used to but the soap is great! I am planning to try it because he is so happy with it.

I have very dry skin and it becomes very itchy. Using this soap my skin has improved. No Itching. Now i dont have to use lotion 2 or 3 times a day. I highly recommend

So the smell is strong. I just bought a soap case so it doesn't bother the wife. Actually, the smell has started to grow on me. I find it unquestionably manly.

Lathers great and gets me clean without drying my skin. The bar wears down a little quickly, but that's a minor complaint.

I love it. If it's good enough for grandpa, it's good enough for me.

This soap's smell has been negatively commented upon by some, but I find it not at all offensive in the first place, and whatever fragrance there is, dissipates very quickly. Absence of perfumes or other masking agents makes this soothing to sensitive skin (psoriasis, allergy, or just dryness). Produces lather generously, and leaves you feeling really clean.
