I bought this without smelling it on reputation alone, and because I remember it from the 80s. I was not disappointed with the staying power at all - it lasts! I don't know if it's just me, but it has a distinct scent which I can only identify as the smell of [*] smoke! Am I crazy? I am a 34-year-old professional woman, so I'm not joking. I am not unsatisfied with it, since I paid [$], but it is not something I will wear regularly. That being said, I am wondering if the original formula was changed. I still wear this around the house because I do like it, and the dry down settles the odd note. It certainly has staying power.

I bought this perfume based on the glowing reviews. Unfortunately it's nothing like what I expected - a sexy perfume that will draw compliments. Instead it's a very heavy, powdery, old scent. I'm sorry but it's very "old lady". I sprayed it once and immediately thought "Oh, no, what did I buy?!" At least I got it on sale. I feel a bit misled, as this is NOT for me and I can't see any young woman wearing this. I'm sorry but this scent is not in any way sexy and I'm baffled that it supposedly draws so many compliments.

I haven't seen Halston anywhere locally in years. This was the first designer fragrance I ever purchased in 1975. Having always adored perfume, I saved my money for a month from my salary at an attorney's office.
As soon as I saw it on drugstore.com (and at such a great price - I paid more for it 36 years ago!), I immediately bought a bottle. I wondered if I would still like it as much as I did back then.
Needless to say, it was as great as I remembered! It's so amazing to me how strong our olfactory senses are. When I applied it right out of the package, it immediately brought back memories of riding up the elevator to that old law office. The sweet little lady who operated the elevator (remember when?!) always used to compliment me on it.
I wore it to the doctor yesterday and all the girls in the office (and my doc) asked me what I was wearing. They all loved it and had never heard of it (lol - you can tell they're all babies). They didn't even know who Halston was; bet he's rolling in his grave at that one.
The scent is spicy, oriental and mysterious without being cloying or overpowering. It gives off a sensual vibe but it doesn't enter the room before you do. I wish it was available in an eau de parfum, not just the cologne because it doesn't last as long. I still love that bottle that is as unmistakable as Chanel No. 5 (another favorite).
I adore drugstore.com because I have found so many classic cosmetics and fragrances that are no longer available locally! I am a customer for life!

I have been wearing this for over twenty years and I still love the scent. It's best worn when the weather is cold, because it is a very heavy fragrance. Every time I wear Halston, people always compliment me, especially men. When I tell them it's from a quarter century ago, no one can believe me. They always find it hard to believe that this is a drugstore perfume...It's one of my wintertime favorites!
