I ordered it due to the high SPF content hoping for the best but expecting a nasty tasting product. Boy was I surprised! Not only does it protect our sensitive lips from the cruel sun, it tastes and smells delicious! Fruity and sweet but not overbearing. Will reorder when I run out :) VS Most Liked Negative Review Not the worst, not the best I was drawn to the broad-spectrum SPF 45, and the promise of a tropical scent. The high SPF rating seems to be effective, as long days in the desert have yet to result in a sunburn with this product. However, I was disappointed by the fact that the product wears off so quickly; one minute it's waxy and heavy, the next it's gone. That fact alone makes me apply and reapply the balm all day long, to be sure I'm still getting the SPF...and perhaps a little moisture, which this balm doesn't really provide. The tropical flavor is actually pretty gross after awhile, and unlike the product itself, never seems to go away. Plus, like other high-SPF lip products, the sunscreen tastes terrible when it gets in your mouth. I don't plan to repurchase this balm. Best Uses Comments about Hawaiian Tropic Moisturizing Lip Balm Sunscreen, SPF 45, Tropical, .14 oz: don't have anything good to say about this product, except that the package looks good. Pros Cons
Best Uses Comments about Hawaiian Tropic Moisturizing Lip Balm Sunscreen, SPF 45, Tropical, .14 oz: I was very disappointed in this lip balm. I love tropical scents and have always been a fan of Hawaiian Tropic products. I noticed the "Tropical" lip balm and had to have it. I read the reviews and noticed that one of them mentioned a terrible chemical taste. I am not one that typically buys lip balm for the taste and I don't believe that I lick my lips excessively so, since the other reviews were positive, I thought this wouldn't be a problem. I was wrong. The chemical taste was immediately apparent and I had to wipe the lip balm off. It must not be a consistent formula because I can't believe the reviews were overall so positive based on the experience I had ... you may be lucky. I will not purchase this again. Pros

Best Uses Comments about Hawaiian Tropic Moisturizing Lip Balm Sunscreen, SPF 45, Tropical, .14 oz: This lip product tastes awful. Great, it has sunscreen but smells and tastes like rotting cocoanuts. I hate it. Doesn't really last long, after a while will start going pasty white on the corners of the lips, protects, but just tastes terrible. Pros

Best Uses Comments about Hawaiian Tropic Moisturizing Lip Balm Sunscreen, SPF 45, Tropical, .14 oz: we were going on vacation (in the sun), so i picked this up because i was drawn to the higher spf. i used it once, and gave it away. i anticipated a tropical flavor (maybe a little pineapple? perhaps some coconut?) the flavor was a bitter, medicinal taste. and i'm NOT a lip licker. so if *i* could taste the awful flavor, anyone could. i do not recommend this.

Cons Best Uses Comments about Hawaiian Tropic Moisturizing Lip Balm Sunscreen, SPF 45, Tropical, .14 oz: True Blue Spa from Bath & Body Works Watch Your Mouth SPF 45 was discontinued...had been buying for male members of family for use in sun, especially on their trips to Mexico...was thrilled to find your similar product - and for less money - to have for their trip last week. Bath & Body Works loss; even if they bring back, wil stick with your Hawaiian Tropic! Pros
Cons
Best Uses Comments about Hawaiian Tropic Moisturizing Lip Balm Sunscreen, SPF 45, Tropical, .14 oz: This lip balm smells good, kind of tropical-y. But it dries out much faster than any other kind of balm I've ever used. It's almost as if it's half water and it quickly evaporates, leaving your lips with a dry, sticky film on them. I was attracted to it for its high SPF, but the dry sticky feeling isn't worth it. This will be my emergency lip balm (ie, when I can't find anything else). ![]() |
