This controls flakes really well & I love the scent. It doesn't strip my hair as badly as many other dandruff shampoos, and can be used every day. However, keep in mind H&S trades gentleness for effectiveness -- it's not as harsh as stronger shampoos but it's also not always effective at treating a really itchy scalp. This is no problem if you have mild itchy scalp, the H&S will be more than sufficient. If you're like me, though, you've got itching that's harder to control. If you've gone a couple weeks without using any dry scalp shampoo, you'll probably want to start with another brand of harsher dry scalp shampoo, as those are designed to completely get rid of hard-to-treat dry scalp. Use the harsher shampoo for a couple of weeks to get your scalp's moisture balanced, and maintain your scalp's moisture with Head & Shoulders. Personally I don't mind this, as the stronger shampoos are hard on my hair and often have a strong chemical odor, so switching to the gentler H&S is fine by me.

This product does NOT help. My sister, who has a degree in cosmetology, said it makes dandruff worse and she is right. Get Tea Tree products from Paul Mitchell. You get what you pay for.

I've been using Head & Shoulders dry scalp care shampoo and conditioner for 2 weeks straight, and it has decreased the flakes by about 70%, hence the 3 star rating (above average). I've never had dandruff/dry scalp flakes until I moved to a very dry/cold climate, so I'm not sure how well the product is supposed to work. This line is very moisturizing, but that comes with the price of flatter looking hair.

At first I really liked this product because it DID get rid of my dry scalp flakes, but then I noticed it left a weird, sticky buildup on my hair that was very hard to wash out with a clarifying shampoo. I tried using it again and it did the same thing after just one wash. It really is a shame because it smelled good and got rid of my flakes. Maybe I should try the other kinds of Head & Shoulders.
