If you use too much, you have to keep rubbing to make the white go away and absorb into your head. The matte finish rubs right in, no problem. Also, I can't tell a difference between the shiny finish and matte finish, my head looks the same with either one. I'd recommend just getting the matte finish because it goes on easier.
