I use this everyday on my fine hair to give it some volume and I've never had any flakes. I suspect flakes come from using way too much of it. I have no problems with this mousse. Followed directions and my hair was flat for a good 10 minutes straight after blow drying my hair but within 30 minutes my hair was back to the way it was as if I just let it air dry with no products. My hair is stick straight but even other mousse have had better hold than this. This has done absolutely nothing for my hair which is extremely disappointing. Products apparently don't seem to work in my hair, not just herbal essence, so maybe I am being too harsh but I was truly looking forward to more volume in my lifeless hair.
