I have used a more expensive white noise machine in the past, but I loaned it to someone for awhile and needed a (cheap) replacement. This machine works pretty well, considering its low price. Some of the sounds are better quality than others. For me, the ocean sounds are the most effective. It doesn't completely drown out extraneous noise, but it does help me fall asleep faster. I like the timer feature, as well.

I love this little machine. It provides a little subtle background noise. I moved from the country to a place on a main road in a small town and had some trouble with the traffic noises. The cricket noise is my favorite to distract from trucks outside.

It is easy to use and I love that it has a sleep timer so I'm not sucking energy all night, just for an hour or so.

It's nice and small too, so it fits on my bedstand easily.

My daughter received this sound machine a few years ago for Christmas and uses it regularly. My 11 year old son kept asking to borrow his sister's, so we got him one for Christmas this year. He uses it every night and says it really helps him fall asleep quicker.

I like the selection of sounds. The crickets are my favorites. The sound could be improved by not being so repetitious, a longer track run with variety in the sound before repeating.

I bought 3 of these sound machines. All three of them would sporadically stop working. After jiggling them around for a few minutes, they would start working again. Then 15 minutes later, the same thing happens.

I use this product about every three days to soothe stress at bedtime. It has a sleep timer w/three intervals; 15, 30, & 60 minute settings. It will cut off at whichever time you choose.

My husband says he doesn't snore. With this machine I get great sleep and I don't hear him "not" snoring. The rain setting drowns him out. haha.

I work nights and I have been a white noise addict for years. I normally run a fairly large fan in my room 24x7, 365 days a year to drown out all the daytime noise that can occur. Fans are expensive and with that much use tend to have short lives.I bought this hoping to replace my current fan which is on it's last rotations. I knew up front there would be sounds on here that I wouldn't be able to use.Ocean - rather than smooth, constant wave motion there are sudden, loud, crashing waves. no Summer Night - tons of crickets and/or frogs. no Rain - Just sounds like running water and causes more bathroom trips. noRain Forest - would have been nice except for that one really LOUD screeching bird. no.Heartbeat - This is simply annoying. Kind of like the neighbor's rebuilding their house or something similiar.Waterfall - Pefect. It actually sounds like smooth static more than a waterfall. But it is very much like my fan running all night.Used it for 3 days and slept like a baby. On the forth day I started to notice a barely imperceptable beeping noise. Two beeps, every 2 to 3 seconds. Beeps is not accurate. It was more like computer tones. Very, very quiet but still disturbing. Over time, the tones became louder and louder. I thought my PC had gone insane and spent hours trying to troubleshoot these horribly annoying tones.I finally shut the PC off and unplugged the sound system. That's when I realized the tones were coming from my new [$] paperweight. The ONE sound I could have very happily used on this machine has developed a double tone underneath the waterfall sound. It is one of those sounds that will drill into your brain and cause you to become mentally unstable.I tested and found the same annoying two tones, every 2 to 3 seconds underneath several of the other sounds, as well.Waste of money but would probably cost more to try to return, in both time and money, than is worth the effort. So I do still try to use it during waking hours. As long as you don't turn up the volume too much and just keep it very, very quiet the tones are barely perceptable.Don't buy this for sleep or relaxation if, like me, you require a fairly loud fan type noise. You do get what you pay for.

Great white noise machine. We use it while sleeping. It has a good selection of sounds. I like the waterfall sound, which was not featured on our last white noise machine (from Radio Shack). Small design, easy to operate.
