How do I make changes to my prescription?

browse: prescriptions > Prescription Summary
You can request changes to your prescription quantity, dosage, strength, and generic preference. These changes may require approval from your doctor or insurance company. To request changes to your prescription, please follow the steps below.

How do I change my quantity?
Our pharmacy is continually looking for ways to provide you the best value for your prescriptions. Ordering larger quantities may save you money on your prescriptions!

Non-insured prescriptions
You can specify a different quantity online for most non-insured prescriptions that are ready to order. We'll send the new quantity for all future refills of that prescription, unless you change the quantity again. The number of refills remaining will be adjusted to reflect the quantity change. To change the quantity on your prescription, go to your prescription list and please follow these steps:

1. Click Edit next to the prescription to go to the Prescription Details page.
2. On the Prescription Details page, type the new quantity next to "What quantity you would like to ship with this order?" You can request any amount up to the quantity remaining on your prescription.
3. Click Update. Your new quantity and price will be updated immediately.

If you are not able to change your quantity online, send an e-mail to rxchange@drugstore.com.

Insured prescriptions and controlled medications
To request a quantity change for insured prescriptions or controlled medications, send an e-mail to rxchange@drugstore.com at least 10-14 days before you run out of your supply of medicine.

Be sure your e-mail request includes:

1. The prescription number
2. The name of the person using the prescription
3. The quantity you would like us to ship
4. The reason for the change request

These changes require approval from your insurance provider and/or doctor. If we cannot change the quantity, we will notify you in an e-mail message.

How do I change my brand or generic preference?
Choosing a generic equivalent to your brand medication may give you considerable savings on your prescriptions! To check if you drug has a generic equivalent, please consult our Drug Index.

To change your brand or generic preference on an existing prescription, please send an e-mail to rxchange@drugstore.com. Our pharmacists are happy to make this change with your doctor's authorization. You may also request that your doctor write future prescriptions for generic equivalents whenever possible.

To receive generic equivalents when available on future prescriptions, please verify that you have authorized the use of generic equivalents in your health profile.
