However the first time I used it was to block the light when I was trying to nap after working almost all night to meet a deadline. Normally after working all night, I have trouble falling asleep. I'm also fidgety in that I don't like anything on my head or on my feet or over my eyes-- but the light was bothering me. I tried this and not only did it block the light, but I was also out. I'm only giving it 4 stars because I don't know if it stops headache pain. I just know that the product worked wonders for me-- even without the refrigeration. The mask effectively blocks out all light because the beads are able to form to your features and I can comfortably blink with it on. The slight pressure on the sinuses helped with my headache. I keep it in a bag in the freezer so its nice and cold by bedtime but it doesn't freeze rock solid so it's not uncomfortable. I usually have a good stress and/or tension headache at the end of the day and this mask really helps melt that tension away. The little band that holds it on is getting a little stretched out already so I might need to fix that but I still love this little eye mask! If you put it in the freezer first it helps puffy eyes as well.It stays put the whole time I am asleep. No more waking up constantly!! I recommend it to all my coworkers and 3rd shifters. It's really nice and it gives a little space around the eye area so it doesn't push my eyelashes in if I were to open my eyes while it's on.
