I have tons of below-the-shoulder baby-fine wavy hair, which is layered. Perms are a nightmare, tiny curling irons take forever, and most crimping/waving irons give hideous results. This waving iron is miraculous! I love it more than any hair-styling tool I've tried in the past 35 years. It gives me gorgeous waves.

I did notice after a couple of uses that my hair does need a bit more moisture and protection, so I added it. I also learned that styling products with alcohol basically sizzle the hair into shape, so I avoid them.

Positive:

The wave iron was super easy to use... plug in... wait... wave away (and it was really easy to line up the "seams" from one wave to the next).

It heated up really quickly. (I don't know if it cooled quickly because I unplugged it and then went to work - leaving it out to cool).

It has a nice long cord so you don't accidentally unplug it trying to reach the far corners of your head.

The heating element is nicely insulated so even holding the iron close to the element, I was far from being in danger of burning my hand.

Negative:

You really have to do small sections of hair at a time. It took me awhile to do my whole head (for reader reference - my hair is probably 6" past my shoulders and I have a lot, but it isn't exceptionally thick)... probably a full thirty minutes (not including dry-time).

The barrels are pretty small. My hair takes to curling/waving really well and by the time I finished I looked a little bit poodle-ish (but I kind of liked it anyway). I totally wore it all day (to work and then out for drinks/dinner with a friend), but it was a bit much - maybe just different. With my hair being so long and holding the wave so well... I'd be a lot better off with looser waves (maybe using larger sections of hair would force it to be looser without changing the barrel size).

All in all - the product itself was great... but the user preferences were the issue.

I was very impressed with this wave styler. It gives you nice soft waves and none of the frizz. I have short straight hair, so this is a nice way to change up my look.

i have a four year old daughter and I thought this would be great to use on her hair. She has very thick wavy hair and it worked great. It heated up fast and worked well on her think hair. When I was done with her hair it actually reminded me of when my mom would braid my hair as a kid and I would sleep on it,take the braids out in hte morning. It was very cute.

The Wave Ultra is straight forward and easy to use you just press it for a few seconds and move onto the next section. I've curled my hair many times and was amazed at how quick it was to add waves to my hair, it took about ½ the amount of time it normally does to curl my hair. Additionally it managed to last the whole night and into the next day, which also impressed me.

I have longer and a little bit thicker hair. I've used a waver before on just washed/dried hair and never liked the results because my hair always "poofed" at the ends creating almost a triangle look. For this, I decided to use it on day old/two day old hair and like the results much more! I also did the styling before going to bed and woke up and actually liked the results better since the waves had toned down a bit.

You can adjust the size of the wave you want to achieve just by adjusting the amount of hair you place into the barrel.

One last thing, the picture looks a little pink online, but the appliance is a little more red in color...if that has an factor in your decision.

This styler was quick to hear and seems to maintain it's temperature. I have thick and somewhat short hair. I suggest using a styling product that will hold the curl when you are done. It takes a bit getting used to, not bad though if you've used a straightener before.

I have long, thick hair, so this probably isn't the best product for me. It took awhile for my hair to wave (had to hold it down) because of the thickness, so I worried that the heat was too much for my hair. Although after completing the look and styling it, I was able to create a different texture than a straightener or a curling iron could! I think this product is best for short hair so the weight won't pull it down.

This waver works fast! On the high heat setting, it gets a bit too hot to have close to your scalp for very long, so it's a good thing you don't need to hold it down on your hair very long. No tool like this will ever give your hair a true finger wave or marceled look, but the waves it does give you can still have a vintage look to them. I have gotten many compliments on my hair already (someone even used the word "pinup" - awesome!).
