Space Bags are great for storing items long term. It does take time and practice to seal the bags properly and avoid dreaded leaks. I have battled insufficient storage space forever and began using Space Bags when they were first introduced. The product has definitely improved over the years - easier to seal and more durable. This tote style is easier to use than the XXL bags for folded items. I'm always a little amazed when I open a Space Bag that has been sealed for years and the items pop back to their original size with no yellowing or damage. I believe that the airtight aspect of Space Bags protects everything stored inside. And, of course, using Space Bags creates so much more space in my closets.

This product is wonderful. I use it to store my bedding sets when the seasons change. I have never had a problem with it leaking after the first time I tired it. There is a small learning curve with this product in that you absolutely must be sure to press the seal tightly and evenly all the way across from end to end. You need strong fingers or the little plastic guide that comes it and even then I would suggest to go over it twice. Also, be absolutely sure to replace the cap tightly and securely over the suction hole. Other than this, it is wonderful.

I have been careful to not overfill. I have used them exactly as recommended. [...] I tried to patch with a plastic patch only to find another hole in another area. This could be a great idea, but it does not work consistently enough to be trusted to protect my valuable belongings.

Perfect for all the packing, unpacking and repacking of college kids' clothes, linens, towels, seldom-used items, pillows, stuffed animals and clothing accessories. You can fit a lot more in your car if you use these. And when you get to college, unpacking the car takes a fraction of the time. Be careful to not over-pack because although you are using much less space to store something, it's tempting to make the bags heavier than you would like. I will soon buy more for my older kids' keepsakes and finally get rid of all the plastic bins I now use. We have even used these for office and school supplies and books.

I have gain weight but can not part with my very expensive professional size 6 clothes. So I purchased one of these bags to "lessen the load" in my closet. So far the air bag is holding tight and if it does leak air (as some have reported) I'm hoping the strapes will contain it so the zipper will not seperate. I'm going to wait a few more months and if it continues to hold I will purchase at least 10 more.

Bottom line: This product rarely performs. A year ago or more I bought three. One held its seal. The others didn't. I figured they were defects. Foolishly, I bought six more Feb 2010 because of a newer design. Of the three news ones I've used, all had leaked air by the next day. I do not find my results at all consistent with what others here have written. None of the bags were over-filled.

I don't have any storage room so these are GREAT!!! One container holds a at least 1 comforter, 4 pillows, sheets, and several blankets.

I have bought space bags before, and they are okay for traveling, but hands down the totes are the way to go! My family of 3 travel by car, every year to Lake Erie. I can fill 1 space bag tote with ALL our clothes. That includes bulky hoodies, robes, and sweaters, along with our summer stuff.
It is also great for storing my winter blankets, Im talking king size stuff here.
I now have 6 space bag totes all zip locked and protected all stored in our attic.
This is a must buy!

Pack a lot in a little space. Yes, its their driving point of these units, but they are not kidding! I liked the idea of the things all along, but I always thought them a bit ugly and vulnerable. My house is more an open style and puckered bags of things up on a shelf isn't all that appealing. Also, all these types of products depend on 'vacuum' and an unbroken seal. If you've got cats and/ or kids forget it! They'll poke a hole in it faster than you can chase them off. These totes, with the see-into canvas looking exterior, are just the thing. Attractive, functional, and an extra layer of protection from those ever so graceful pets and kids, etc. With three of these units I changed an overly filled double-armoire sized linen shelf area into nearly empty with the three totes on the top shelf - love all that extra space!!
