Dries skin. I would suggest using a really great shower gel, shower cream or shower oil. Would you really rather save on soap and pay more on the effects this soap will have? I chose to invest in a non drying shower soap. I now use a shower oil from Sabon and doesn't dry skin after a shower. For budget buyers, try Nuance shower gel or shower cream. It's moisturizing with a drugstore price.

I just wash my hands with this soap because I like the clean unscented smell that it has I never get sick of it. I will not shower with this soap though because it always dries my skin out.

This is a cost effective, simple soap for those with allergic reactions to certain ingredients. It also lathers well but is way to drying 2 minutes after you use it especially on your face it feels tight and like sand paper. Its more of a body soap I would say not really meant for face unless you have very oily skin and can tolerate it, although I would say for those with oily skin this soap would dry your skin so much and cause you sebaceous gland to produce even more oil, so at the end of the day your skin would be dry, irritated, red and oily.

It is moisturizing and inexpensive.

I use a deodorant soap but not on my entire body as it is too drying.

Unlike the deodorant soap I use Ivory does not leave soap scum.

The bar itself does not last long but it has the moisturizing I need at a good price.

I had been trying to find this soap in a small enough size to hold in my hand while bathing. The "individual" size is perfect. The "bath size" is too big to hold comfortably while in the bath. For some reason, it is very hard to find the individual size in other stores - thank you to drugstore.com for carrying the smaller size!

I saw an ad for this old favorite soap and decided to try it. It doesn't smell like it used to; it's really hard to describe the scent now. Maybe somewhere between diesel fuel and OLD lemons mixed together and a household cleaning product?? The maker really needs to rethink the fragrance. The one with Aloe might be better. I'll give it a whiff next time I'm in a grocery store.

Okay, I'm about to get a little personal in this review, maybe a little TMI, but hear me out: my gyno told me to buy this soap for my lady parts.

She was very specific that it should be the bar soap, not the liquid. I had been using perfumed products that were having a detrimental effect, as it turns out, and she told me to switch to this soap. So I followed her instructions, and I am happy to report that Ivory bar soap works well, um, down there. It is non-drying and the fragrance is very mild. And it cleans effectively, of course.

My only complaint, and it's a mild one, is that the bar shrinks a little oddly compared to other bars. Most bar soaps will shrink down to a sliver which you can then either combine with a new bar of soap, put in your sock drawer as a sachet until the scent is gone, or just throw out. The Ivory soap, maybe because it has moisturizing ingredients in it, shrinks according to how you habitually lather. Mine eventually breaks into two triangular pieces that are difficult to raise a lather from, and will not easily combine with a new bar of soap. I never run out of soap sachets for my sock drawer now, but I also feel like I'm not using the whole bar of soap. Ah well, minor detail since this soap is so inexpensive and so effective.

Highly recommended if you have sensitive spots to clean.

I remember this soap when I was a child. It's the only one my Mom would buy for our family. For a family of 12, Ivory was a good deal for the money. The scent is ingrained in my memory and anytime I smell it, it brings back fond memories. The soap cleans well, and sure it's a little drying, but I always apply lotion after my shower so no dry feel. It's definitely a great soap for sore spots and for sunburn. Soothing.
