Someone recommended carbolated vaseline but they don't make it anymore. Through my internet search for that I discovered Watkin's Petro-Carbo. Its a real MIRACLE for this condition! Absolutely the only thing that helped at all (they had gotten so bad it was embarassing) and my hands look totally NORMAL now! I put it on every night just before going to sleep. I keep it on my night stand and am SO thankful for this stuff!I hope this helps someone else. I'm talking about paper cuts and cat scratches, primarily. It doesn't hold a candle to Neosporin and also doesn't relieve the pain. Haven't had the opportunity (thank goodness!) to use it on a burn, so that has yet to be seen. Glad to have it around, just in case. What it works wonderfully for are dry feet. I put it on my feet and then put on socks before going to bed. They're as soft as a baby's bottom in the morning. As foot treatments go, this is very economical! The tin itself needs work. It is impossible for me to open so I always have to ask for help. Wish it came in a container I could use independently. Maybe I'll scoop it out into a different container. Comments about J.R. Watkins Petro-Carbo Salve, 4.37 oz: No matter how I try to avoid it, I always seem to get those little cracks on the sides of my fingers during the cold weather. So small yet they really hurt and interfere w/writing and typing. This is the best stuff I've ever found to heal them quickly. It's thick and rather sticky - so nighttime is best for me. Very good for chapped hands, too. It does soak in but takes quite a while. It's worth it - really effective. I'll dab a little bit on in the morning and keep a small tin on my desk. It has a medicinal smell which doesn't bother me at all. If you get those cracked winter fingers, consider trying this. :) Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? Comments about J.R. Watkins Petro-Carbo Salve, 4.37 oz: This is what my mom used when I was a kid. I was SO glad to find it again! It is awesome. My daughter had a large, severe burn on her leg. Once it was healed over, we put this on it and wrapped it. The next day it already looked so much better. I was amazed at how much better it looked. It has quickly healed since and the doctor says it shouldn't even scar. Even the doctor was amazed! And it lasts forever. Will definitely keep this around always!
