Someone recommended carbolated vaseline but they don't make it anymore. Through my internet search for that I discovered Watkin's Petro-Carbo. Its a real MIRACLE for this condition! Absolutely the only thing that helped at all (they had gotten so bad it was embarassing) and my hands look totally NORMAL now! I put it on every night just before going to sleep. I keep it on my night stand and am SO thankful for this stuff!I hope this helps someone else. I'm talking about paper cuts and cat scratches, primarily. It doesn't hold a candle to Neosporin and also doesn't relieve the pain. Haven't had the opportunity (thank goodness!) to use it on a burn, so that has yet to be seen. Glad to have it around, just in case. What it works wonderfully for are dry feet. I put it on my feet and then put on socks before going to bed. They're as soft as a baby's bottom in the morning. As foot treatments go, this is very economical! The tin itself needs work. It is impossible for me to open so I always have to ask for help. Wish it came in a container I could use independently. Maybe I'll scoop it out into a different container. SO, upon seeing 'relieves pain' and 'prevent's swelling' in the list of potential Pros, I started rubbing Petro ALL OVER the knee replacement area and then applying a heat pad for a while. Great pain relief and the adema diminished. The incision, the whole knee is healing so well... I can't say enough good things about Watkin's Petro Carbo. It has a vaseline consistency, but the Mrs. Meyers hand soap cuts it easily and leaves my hands soft. Pros
