As a "Senior Citizen," I find the skin on my arms, especially, looking "old." One use convinced me that this was the answer. It is hydrating, softening, leaves absolutely no greasy feeling, and yes, smells great. I'll be happy not to have to wear long sleeves all summer!. I too remember my Mom sitting at the kitchen table with the Watkins man. Did anyone else sell vanilla?! I've never tried this before. It works well, but I really do not like the smell. It smell like lemon pledge mixed with sugar. SinceI use it on my hand, the smell is constantly around. I have a hard time using it because of the smell. REVIEWS Reviewed by 36 customers Sort by Displaying reviews 1-10 Previous | Next » Pros

Comments about J.R. Watkins Shea Butter Hand Cream, 3.3 oz: So, this is pretty much the best natural hand cream I've ever used. In my quest to find a hand cream sans Parabens, I stumbled upon this one. I thought with a name like Watkins, this had to be down-home goodness...and oh, how right I was! To start, its convenient. It comes in a slim, sturdy 3.3oz bottle with a flip cap to seal. Perfect for your purse, gym bag, or carry-on. The cream itself is an actual cream, (Win!) that is rich, and smooth--not the least bit greasy. It absorbs well, and leaves the most pleasant lemon-pie scent behind. IMO, the smell doesn't linger on for TOO long...just long enough for you to appreciate it. Then it fades into the background. (Even if it didn't, I wouldn't mind because the fresh, lemony-sweet smell is right up my alley.) All-in-all, a winner. I don't think I'll ever tire of this one. Thanks Watkins! Pros

Best Uses Comments about J.R. Watkins Shea Butter Hand Cream, 3.3 oz: I was very unhappy when I put this product on my hands. It smells very bad. This one is supposed to be lemon. I also ordered lavender hand and body lotion. They both smelled the same. I have used Watkins products for many years but will not buy lotion again. The last I bought, a couple years ago, was vanilla. It was sooo good but can't find it. I guess it is not made anymore. What a dissapointment. Pros

Comments about J.R. Watkins Shea Butter Hand Cream, 3.3 oz: This product claims to be all natural then I dont know why they put fragrance in and so much to where if you have asthma you have to be careful. Pros

Comments about J.R. Watkins Shea Butter Hand Cream, 3.3 oz: Holy moly. When I first put this lotion on my hands, I loved the smell. Like frosted lemon ice box cookies and something you'd want to eat. However, over time the smells turns to something way too perfume-y. It is actually strong enough to have given me a headache, while I'm sitting at my computer. This cream would be perfect if they could just tone down the fragrance a bit. As far as moisturizing goes, it's perfect. My hands are now soft and smooth. But, because of the smell, I will probably resort to wearing this at night on my feet, with socks to lock in the moisture. The smell is too strong to wear on my hands. Too bad. Maybe I'll try the lavender instead, hopefully that's not as headache-inducing. Pros

Comments about J.R. Watkins Shea Butter Hand Cream, 3.3 oz: I love this product because it moisturizes well, and it has natural ingredients. I also LOVE the lemon scent--but that is a personal preference. I could eat it because it smells so lemony! It is a little thick and does take a little time to absorb, but that is not a deterrent at all from me purchasing this product. It makes my hands so soft, and I purchased several tubes since it was on sale--GREAT PRICE! Pros

Comments about J.R. Watkins Shea Butter Hand Cream, 3.3 oz: I use handcream at night before bed & need a deep moisturiser as my hands get rough treatment through the day but this is really the only time i have to effectively apply lotion. I love the crabtree & evelyn citron cream but was looking for a cheaper, natural alternative. I've struggled to find any cost effective natural hand cream with great reviews & this had fairly good reviews & cheap so i bought it. Other reviews are right the scent is horrible, i love citrus but this is a juvenile, dessert like smell & even my husband noticed it & commented & he has a dreadful sense of smell due to allergies!! I could have stuck with it if it were any good as a moisturiser but it simply does nothing for me. It sinks in really fast & i dont notice any softness of my skin in the morning. The only positive is the price & size of tube but for amount you need to use to get any coverage its not worth bothering! Pros

Comments about J.R. Watkins Shea Butter Hand Cream, 3.3 oz: This cream is the very best leave-in hair moisturizer/leave-in hair cream I've ever used!!! It's strongly shea butter-based, so it really softens and protects dry hair. This is especially great to use on the ends of my hair--but I can use it on any part of my hair. The smell is SO delicious and beautiful. It smells like the yummiest lemon curd tarts or lemon pie I've ever sniffed. If you have dry hair and want to keep it even a little bit long, get this product immediately!!! This is a true hair-saver! Pros

Comments about J.R. Watkins Shea Butter Hand Cream, 3.3 oz: This lotion is deliciously thick and creamy, and I use it on my hands and arms just before bed. It certainly softens the skin and restores moisture. Though I don't mind the smell of lemons, I find this lotion's fragrance a bit too strong. I wish it were a little more subtle. I also wish the same lotion came in different fragrances (maybe it does, but Drugstore doesn't carry them). I'd prefer the same lotion in lavender. ![]() |
