My natural hair color is brown, but I am now light blonde. Bleaching dried out my hair, leaving it dull and fly-away, but unless I want dark roots, I must keep doing it. I tried a whole bunch of products to improve the look of my hair, and this one has dome the most for me. It's easy to use, and my hair looks completely natural and healthy. I do wish, however, that I could find the tinted versions of this product. The medium blonde gave the color a little boost, making it possible to go a little longer between colorings.

I don't normally bother reviewing stuff, but this stuff was so awful that I had to. I've tried it both ways - using on wet hair and on dry. When used on wet hair it did nothing, so I tried it the dry method. Firstly - my hair is naturally brown but I've bleached and highlighted myself to blonde. Needless to say, it's taken a beating - and is now on the dry and brittle side. But I've been treating it kindly the past few months and it was starting to recover. While it got much softer and more manageable over time, it wasn't very shiny anymore so I thought I'd give this a try. I wish I could say it was merely disappointing. I used it on dry, unwashed hair, left it on for about 15-20 minutes, then rinsed out thoroughly. Then I went to blow dry it, with a round brush, as usual. I couldn't get the brush through. I sectioned it into smaller sections and tried again - my brush would not slide through. It made a squeak as I pulled harder but I realized that if I pulled any harder it would just break the hair. I've NEVER had this problem before. If anything, my hair is usually too slippery and I have trouble getting good tension while drying. So, I gave up the round brush and used a regular paddle brush, which should have been easier, but it also wouldn't slide through. Eventually I gave up and just finger combed gently while drying (had trouble running my fingers through as well). Once it was mostly dry, I tried the round brush again and had limited success. Then, I used my normal heat protectant and ironed the top sections to get it smooth. I'll say this - my hair feels awful and is definitely not shiny. It feels significantly drier and more brittle, I still can't run my fingers through it and it just looks like a limp, stiff, strawlike mess. I'm pretty sure it looks worse than it did the time that I bleached it twice in one day. I really hope that as I wash it in the coming weeks the glaze will just wash out and my hair will not be permanently screwed up, but honestly, I'm just so disappointed and annoyed. I know it's just hair, but what a load of false advertising!

Comments about John Frieda Clear Shine Luminous Glaze for All Hair Shades, 6.5 fl oz:

This is a really great product if you want nice, shiny hair. It also helps "fill-in" damaged hair cuticles, giving the appearance and feel of much healthier hair. Plus you have the versatility of using it-5 minutes with a shower cap on in the shower, or 20 minutes with a shower cap on and under a microwaved, wet towel wrapped around your head. Of course, to get my money's worth, I do the 20 minute routine as it will last thru many more shampoos than the 5 minute treatment. You won't be disappointed-your hair will be very happy and SHINY!

I use the product at least 2 times a week to strengthen and control my fine thin and dry hair. It doesn't weight your hair down and is easy to use. I wish the bottle was bigger so it would last longer!

I don't find that it makes my hair very shiny. On the other hand it doesn't dry it out, but I thought it would create soft & shiny hair, and after using it for three weeks my hair is not any shinier than it was before using this product.

I use the once weekly shine surge because I wash my hair once-weekly. I am more mature so I don't know if the shine is completely gone from my hair, but this product didn't seem to make any difference. I've only used it twice. I will continue to use until the bottle is gone- Maybe I will see a difference over time. Hope so!
