I love this drying brush. I have fine to medium hair but a lot of it. I recently got a perm for the first time and really did not know how to deal with it. I am not very patient when it comes to styling my hair. My hair takes a long time to dry as it is like a sponge absorbing water. This is how I use this product: 1) let my hair dry normally or at least slightly damp. 2) use spray bottle of water to dampen hair 3) use straightening lotion and comb through 4) pin up hair on top leaving bottom portion for styling. 5) I use hot setting while rolling the brush through for about a minute, and while still rolling, turn to cool setting until hair feels cool, about a minute 6) continue the same until all portions are completed
I brush under, but you can go in any direction you choose. I don't have to use hair spray, as my style will last a couple of days without touching up. It is so easy to use I don't even look in the mirror while styling. My hair feels so soft and bouncy. It is unbelievable. Where has this appliance been all of my life. I have used just about everything out there. They either took too long or made my hair frizzy. I am coming back for a second one, just in case. I brought this dryer to my stylist to use on my hair and she really liked it. She is going to buy one for herself. She couldn't believe the low price. I am so happy with my hair now. I do love easy, not complicated. Thanks John Frieda!

I bought this thinking it would be similiar to the older hair dryers I have used with brushes attached. I have thick, slightly wavy hair that I like to straighten and then curl in the whispie sides for a look that goes great in the daytime at the office or when I go out at night. I used to only use 1 hair dryer to get this effect, but not after purchasing this I now use 2 and sometimes I'll pull out my flat iron to finish out the job when I'm running a little late. Now I blow dry my hair with my hair dryer (not this one) and then I'll use this dryer to curl in my whispie sides, sometimes it will take a while to get the curl because this dryer doesn't feel like it gets very hot (and I use the highest setting) after I get my curl I'll spray it to hold and when the spray dries I'll use the curling brush again to get rid of the hairspray look, then one more very light spray and I'm off to work. Sometimes when I'm running late in the morning I will just pull out my flat iron which seems to do a better job with the curl and also helps get rid of the frizzy edges, but I acutally prefer not to use the flat iron because sometimes it burns my clean just washed hair and I will have to go all day smelling my burnt hair edges. In comparison to all my hair drying/styling products this curling brush dryer rates the worst. Save your money.

Comments about John Frieda Hot Air Brush Model JFHA5, 1 ea:

I have tried other hot air brushes; they worked fine but the brushes were detachable and tended to come off in mid-use. This one may not be the most powerful but it works very well for my purposes. I have fine, moderately thick hair and this brush picks up my hair easily without damaging it, also the brush is not detachable and therefore stays nicely intact during use.

Comments about John Frieda Hot Air Brush Model JFHA5, 1 ea:

I have finally found after fighting for over 40 years of curly, frizzy hair, something that works very well at calming it down. I have long, curly, frizzy, impossible in humidity, hair. This hot brush works extremely well when you take your time to work with it. I blow dry my hair with a regular blow dryer first to 3/4 dry, then use the hot brush by hair sections. It takes time, and is well worth the time I put into it. I LOVE the larger barrel and is perfect for longer curlycue hair that you want to straighten out. Con for me, I have to buy one once a year as the motor seizes up, but I use it every day sometimes for 45 minutes a day.

The barrel is big. I have medium to short hair so it doesn't work for me, I would imagine it would be great for someone with longer hair.

I've tried to get my hair to be smooth/straight so I purchased a flat iron. I never quit mastered this and felt it was very harsh on my hair. This brush seems much gentler to my hair and gives me the effect I'm looking for.
