A cotton swab can be rated by its softness and these swabs are soft and gentle on my skin. They don't unravel at the tip, and that's important. I have a special friend who needs her outer ears cleaned every day to prevent infections. She's picky about anyone but me touching her ears and these cotton swabs do the job well and are soft on her skin. People don't realize a cotton swab can be helpful with pet care, but it's an important part of our daily routine. Of course, I use cotton swabs on a regular basis for my child and myself -- and Johnson & Johnson Cotton Swabs are dependable and of excellent value. VS Most Liked Negative Review Why the plastic? Comments about Johnson & Johnson Cotton Swabs, 525 ea: This has never let me down. It stays with the stick. Doesn't tear unlike Qtip. Does fall off the stick, unlike Qtip. I have had occassions in which I've used the Qtip brand and the cotton part was stuck in my ear! This is amazingly dependable!

These swabs are not so "pointy" like the Q-tip brand. They also hold up well and have more cotton on them, so you're not poking yourself! Definitely recommend paying the extra couple bucks.
