Although the design attempts some seemingly good ideas, it pretty much fails. -It doesn't close well enough to pick up small things like paper clips or a sheet of paper (without scrunching it up). -Also the 'lock' feature gets in the way (employs/engages by mistake) as much as helps. -The plastic holding the claws part to the metal rod part recently broke on mine, too; it still 'sort of' works since the wires still attach and I managed to tape the broken plastic part back together, but...! -In summary, my experience with it has been mostly an aggravating pain in the neck; I definitely would not buy this particular brand/model again. -Some other brand/style reachers/grabbers are priced less and work much better for the money.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
